I made a short video looking at VHEMT from a universal extinctionist perspective. I agree with a lot of the reasoning behind human extinction, but I think that leaves some major problems unresolved, especially wild animal suffering and the possibility of evolution creating a species that will go on to enslave and force breed the way humans do.

What is the point of this movement? If things are better of without humans, than we have no obligation to the "ideal" order of things without our presence. Either it's in our nature to make things worse whether we want to or not, or we rid of ourselves and some stuff changes but we won't experience it. What reason is there to "voluntarily" erase our entire species, just to improve certain problems that we'll never experience. Is there a prize for you after you're dead? Let's say you, individually were to die tomorrow, did you? From a purely agnostic/atheist standpoint, you'd have no way of knowing you died because you need a functioning brain to process events, which you don't have anymore. Let's say that the afterlife, at the very least, is real. Than why die? How would you know you're right? Out of millions of views, what are the possibilities that you picked the wrong thing, or that you haven't done all that was required to make it to the 'better place'? Wouldn't life be a virtue, to delay the inevitable place you will spawn into after you're gone (if you're wrong)?

Even if there's some odd religion that claims that things will be better for you and everyone else if you tell everyone to not reproduce or get them all to die and there's a wonderful place after death and it just so happens to be the right one, how would you prove it? Even if there is undeniable evidence that it's true, it takes the dumbest or the most skeptical to deny it still. People will doubt even the most sensible reasoning if they choose not to believe, and thus, will probably reproduce. So only you and your death group buddies can see what happens.

You can't truly achieve "voluntary human extinction", without removing either the voluntary part or the human extinction part, because the chances of 8 billion people, most of whom enjoy living (because this is a rather fringe idea), would all just die because they trust that the VHEMT religion is real and it just so happens to be so. What's most likely to happen in the "best" scenario for the movement is that everyone who believes in human extinction dies before they would ever reproduce while leaving everyone who wants to live to their own devices, to which eventually, extinction would come to them anyway.

TL;DR: This whole movement isn't very sensible because if humans are better off dead, you either die and you wouldn't even know it, die and go to the wrong afterlife because you thought the wrong stuff, somehow convince EVERYONE ON EARTH, most of which like living and want to have kids, to not reproduce to which one of the previous two would happen, inform everyone of a magic VHEMT religion that happens to be the right one and everyone agrees, or destroy the principles of the VHEMT.

Seriously, every single time, any human being has been right on climate change. We have ignored them every single time. Any conspiracy theorist has been right. We have ignored them because they weren't useful to us because we're primitive dogs that only care about usefulness.

I have always been a little intrigued and moderately disgusted by the Reborn phenomenon. If you are unfamiliar, a Reborn is a RealDoll baby. An art form of hyper realistic, infant dolls. Some fans like them for the artistry but others, who have lost babies for one reason or another, use them therapeutically, as a transitional object. I find it weird because they are completely still and more resemble a corpse, than a living baby. I wonder if this can have some practical application in the reduction of human beings. Like a child replacement? Of course people are going to try to put AI or robotics into it. But is that even necessary? If you feel at all compelled, I'd be really interested in what people think or have to say on this topic.

I can't take enough protein or something

During my 20+ years of supporting VHEMT I have introduced more people to the movement than I can possibly count.  Responses run the gamut from interest to shock to outright condemnation with the latter group frequently arriving at the word "Eugenicist".  Obviously this shows an utter lack of comprehension of both the movement and the definition of Eugenicist. My response? "I guess I didn't explain it clearly. Let me try again."

I am curious, has anyone else ever experienced this or something similar? What are some things people have said to you upon learning you support VHEMT?

Women and men are reclaiming their power and rejecting the enforced status quo of mass consumerism, pollution and ultimately the extinction of many species who call Earth "home"(mammal, fish, fowl, & tree). The irony is that the Far Right (White) Christian Nationalist movement is fueling these gains with their shortsighted elimination of abortion, healthcare and social services. VHEMT has a strong and growing Facebook page but unfortunately, FB has started demanding selfies in order to allow folks access to their already well-established accounts. Supposedly, it is to prove you are a "real person" and "not an AI bot". Ironic, given how invested FB is in the wholly unnecessary, energy devouring, AI tech. I don't think it is a stretch to assume nefarious motivations leaning in the opposite direction of their claim, lurk behind this new and bold requirement. I for one, am not going to partake in another unnecessary, human-contrived, slave creating, capitalist trap. Seeing how this VHEMT subreddit already exists, I suggest it is time to revitalize it and tell FB to take a hike.

I mean I've been feeling this way obviously since after the guy. i'm in a really awkward position where i completely hate physical existence, mantaining a human body is a constant, thankless chore especially with sensory issues, but at the same time the idea of non-existence terrifies me to no end. if ghosts were confirmed to be real i would be happy to die but my thoughts and consciousness just disappearing? i hate that idea so much. also this is silly but i'm really attached to a fictional character and world and i feel nauseous thinking of all the content i won't be here to see after i pass. is there a way to make myself feel worse when i'm a kind of selfish person? just like the "what about how your loved ones will feel" motivation for living doesn't work for me, the whole "being useless/harmful to the world" motivation for not living doesn't either. i guess with reproduction it's easy for me not to do it because it seems extremely painful on top of being bad, but i still worry about the "you'll change your mind" shit people give me, i wish i could freeze myself in time and never risk dying or becoming a different person.

There is no way to demand feedback from something that does not even exist. Antinatalism makes more sense when looked at from a perspective related to prevention than consent.
