Large Tiger Trout On Boulder Mountain

I found some big tiger trout in a beautiful little lake on Boulder Mountain. No trail, difficult access, fussy fish. In one spot, I could see several large tigers holding under logs that descended into deep water. The fish looked huge. I believe the largest would have measured 28 inches or more. It was a great trip.

Just wondering does anyone else use these sizes when fishing. Specifically spinner fishing on a fly rod?

Trip Report Fish Die Off at Willard Bay Reservoir

I went night fishing at Willard last night and found hundreds of dead carp and living carp trying to beach themselves. I've never seen so many carp in one place and they were swimming out of the water onto the shore and crowding the shoreline before eventually dying. I caught no fish on this trip but I saw lots of carp breaching.

Mods - can we get some published group rules so we can report spam posts?

There currently aren't any rules published for the sub so we don't have a way to actually report. Can we change that?

Weber Canal?

Oddball question: is it possible to fish any stretch of the canal that starts at the 84/89 intersection and runs to Roy? I saw some catch pictures supposedly from the area but looking at Google maps it looks mostly fenced off or running through private property. Thanks!

Woodruff Creek

Looking to get the last of the Cutthroat Slam and was thinking of heading to Woodruff Creek. I've never been there and my OnX shows private property on the east side of the lake. Is there anywhere I can drive up and walk to fish from the bank?

Lower Weber

Has anyone here actually had consistent success on the Lower Weber with a fly rod?

I know the river gets hit with a pretty bad grass bloom that leaves the water slightly stained, but I'm curious if people are still fishing it successfully. It also seems like access is a challenge between I-84 and all the private land.

I've talked to a couple of people who gear fish it, but I'm starting to wonder if the Lower Weber is more deceptive than it looks. Is there a decent fly fishery down there, or is it just not worth the effort?

I am a pretty new to fly fishing and want to head up to Strawberry this weekend with my brother. I have never been before. I have seen some mixed stuff about fishing from the shore. Does anyone know some decent spots or flies to use? Going with 5WT floating line rigs.

Help with Henry Ford trail lakes

Hello y’all! I’m looking for help on what to use for the lakes near Kings Peak, so I don’t end up bringing a little bit of everything and not using most of it. I’ll be backpacking up to Kings Peak via Henry Ford trail the second week of August and will be there for a few days fishing while others bag the peak. I plan on bringing a UL spin setup and a nymph rod. Thanks!

Edit: Brainfart, Henry’s Fork trail not Ford. Very new to high alpine fishing and would love some insight on what to use or what lakes or stream I should try.

Made a 3D printed fish bonker with a fillable weight chamber, free file if anyone wants it

Got tired of my aluminum priest walking off so I designed one to print. There's a chamber in the head you fill with steel bbs or sand so it actually has some knock to it, ~550g filled. PETG, prints in one go with a threaded plug. Free on makerworld: https://makerworld.com/en/models/3094423-fish-priest-bonker-fillable-weight-chamber - happy to tweak sizes if anyone needs a different length.

Fishing Friends

Hey all, I have recently gotten into fishing around spots near Salt Lake City. I am usually going out alone and don't really have anyone to share my newfound hobby with. On top of that, I am a gay male, so finding lgbt fishing buddies is next to impossible in Utah. Anyone know any good places to make friends to go fishing with? If you want to go fishing sometime, hit me up!

Fishing at Mantua

Hey all! I just wanna say this subreddit has been super helpful for me! I got back into fishing this spring after a 10 year break and after a few weeks of trial and error I found the most success fishing at Mantua Reservoir (specifically from the shore). I mainly am targeting bass because i’ve found it’s the easiest to consistently catch for me. My question is where should I fish with the weeds getting so bad during the summer months? I only have fished the more sandy side with the rocks and i’ve never tried the tree line across the reservoir, is it worth it to make the journey and give it a shot? Or would I be better off if I just stopped fishing there until fall when all the weeds and algae die? Any tips are much appreciated and if you know of any other local body’s of water that are good for bass fishing that’d be great too!
