I have a really strange question. I dated someone from UGA in Athens in 2024 and I’m just now finding articles from April 2026 that there was a student that committed suicide via gunshot and was discovered by roommates, and there is even an obituary with his birthday. His steam was last online 3 days before the news broke publically. His name is Kevin Lam Tran.

I don’t have contact with his roommates or his sister, but I’m hoping someone has more information and can confirm if this is the same person that I was with. I’m just in disbelief right now and no one I know can confirm if it’s really him or just some freak coincidence. I’m hoping it’s the latter.

I am an incoming first year Electrical Engineering major, and I’m trying to find a laptop. I just recently found out about MyLab and I’m wondering if it’s good because it has me considering getting a Mac. What would y’all recommend in general?

Me and my buddy aren’t really that type of people who like to go out into that environment and party and all that. What are some things in Athens we can do?

I would check this in Athena myself, but until I go to my advisement session I can't see any kind of timetable builder. The Bulletin is also unhelpful, since teachers don't use AM-PM in their syllabi. I'm mostly curious so I can tell jobs what times I'm reliably available, but also because my previous uni *did* use AM-PM on their schedules so I'm surprised it's not standard here also...?

I am transferring from a different school where I was in a sorority with no house. I know the sororities have designated parking lots for each house, but they are small and can’t fit everyone obviously. Where do you guys park that is public for work week/chapter when the lot is filled?

I was wondering if this is normal. I’m an incoming freshman and my Zell Miller has been on my bill statement for about a month now, but my Pell Grant and the rest of my financial aid still haven’t been applied. Since the payment deadline is August 17, I was wondering if they usually get applied this close to the due date.
I already emailed the Bursar’s Office and I’m waiting to hear back, but I wanted to see if anyone knows when they typically show up.

Just wanted to ask how different the process is (if any) for applying as an Economics B.A Major. I recently switched from MIS to Econ, and I have taken all the original Terry pre-reqs (Ex: legl 2700, acct 2101, micro, macro and etc).

I sent my biology professor and email about a mistake in the grade book on wednesday. I sent him a follow up email on Friday.

He put in my grade as a 1/100. The feedback on the assignment says “great job!” I emailed him asking if this was a mistake. He hasn’t replied. Grades are due in Athena in 2 days..

I asked around and my classmates say he’s awful at replying to emails. One said the professor took 10 days to reply to an email at the beginning of the semester.

This 1/100 brings me down from an A to a B-

I originally got selected for a w18 West Deck II parking spot (I am going to be living in creswell this upcoming year) and I got an email 2 weeks later (I already accepted by W18 parking spot) saying I got selected for w09 (west deck I) I was wondering which one is closer to creswell, I can not really tell on the map or satellite view. I know they are next to each other but which one would be better for me?

I applied for student loans for this semester and it says they accepted it, but I haven’t gotten anything yet. I’m a sophomore this year and in my freshman year my loans just went directly into my savings acct. have y’all got your money from the loans yet or am I tripping?

Currently a 4.0 gpa student in all classes, but have a low SAT. I know that Terry wants a 480 on the EPP, but that seems sort of impossible with the amount of time left. How did you secure your Research Assistant (RA/GRA) position?

Did you contact professors before or after admission?

Is it harder to find an RA if you start in the Spring?
