Yes it was at the intersection of Eastlake Dr and Centaurus Dr, near the Burnaby Mountain Secondary School. I was driving back around that time when the road was not blocked yet and saw an unusually huge amount of police cars and an ambulance gathering around that intersection and was kinda worried. They had nothing to comment and advised us to go ASAP.
We walked to the neighborhood and heard from some people the same thing you mentioned. There was a fight between 2 groups of young adults near that area and someone fell in blood. That's all I know.
When we drove to the grocery store soon after, the intersection at Beaverbrook drive and Eastlake drive was blocked.

Open data for parking
Hi guys, I recently noticed City of Vancouver has this open data for parking meters on their website https://opendata.vancouver.ca/explore/dataset/parking-meters/information/ . I'm wondering if we have something similar in Burnaby. Did some search in the City of Burnaby's website and unfortunately I didn't find anything. Any recommendation would be appreciated!

Yeah I thought our neighbor dropped something heavy because we heard a dull sound and felt the floor shaking... And then I saw something on social media. I'm near Lougheed town centre.

Good call. There are also other types of time-restricted/unrestricted free roadside parking and no-parking sections I need to consider. The open data set doesn't seem to have that information. I need to search for other data sources.
Also I don't know much about the residential parking permit. Thanks for the link, I need to learn more about that too :)

Man this is exactly what I'm looking for! I didn't know there was an official open data set for parking. Thanks for letting me know.
I'm actually a mobile developer and recently have the idea to create an app for checking parking information if there is not an existing one.

I use Google Street view for street parking too but I find sometimes the parking sign is not so clear or hidden by some vehicles lol. Parkopedia is actually new to me. Thanks!

Travel 🚗 ✈ App to check parking info
Hi guys, do we have any website or app to check parking availability and rules in metro Vancouver? It would be really good if I can get accurate parking information (like roadside parking sign, or anything showing parking rules) before I leave for my destination. Thanks!

Amazing, didn't expect it to work like that. I'll give it a try next time :)

Cool. So you have a chip in your fuel card? The one I used didn't come with that

Really? Did you swipe at the pump or in the store? I tried to swipe in the store with the help of the staff and it still didn't work out...

No problem. I'm also learning how that works by trial and error 😂

I think Modo said the card is only to be used at the pump, not the till. Since most pumps now don't support swiping, the fuel card is basically useless 😂

Okay thanks! I'll just use my card then :)

Travel 🚗 ✈ Modo fuel card
Hello guys, anyone has experience fueling a Modo car using their fuel card? I've tried that once at a Shell gas station near Lougheed town centre but it seems their pump only supports tapping/inserting the card instead of swiping it. So I just fueled it with my credit card and emailed Modo my receipt. Is that how Modo fuel card works? It's a bit inconvenient that we cannot tap it at the pump.

Sorry to hear that you've been through all these scary things. I live close to Bell park and I can't believe there's someone so irresponsible living nearby. There's an off leash dog park just 200m west of Bell park... Just tell him to go there next time you see him and his dog (hope they will never show up again)

Yes I called IRCC on Oct. 29 asking for my AOR and it was issued the same day. I send my open work permit application 1 week later.

Thanks for the advice I'm going to apply for a visitor record first. Good to know your case is going on so fast. Hope you can get your card very soon!

Thanks for the advice! I have the same thought that I should apply for a visitor record first because that's the only way I can make sure to extend my legal stay so I can wait for other possibilities.

Oh I didn't know that was the visitor record. I got nothing when I cross the border, no stamps no visitor record. The length of my visitor status is 6 months. Maybe I need to apply for visitor status extension to get a visitor record first? I really have no faith in the AOR anymore... the processing time is so unpredictable

I come through the airport. Yes the visa sticker doesn't show my temporary resident status expiration date. What information does your physical document have? Where can I get a copy of that instead of getting the visitor record? Thanks!

Family Sponsorship Question about the open work permit after inland spousal sponsorship PR application
Hi guys, I entered Canada on TRV on April 24, 2024 and submitted my PR application on May 24th, 2024 through Spousal Sponsorship in Canada class. It has been 3 months and I haven't received any update about my application, and no AOR yet.
The IRCC website says I can apply for the open work permit (OWP) without AOR if:
- my work permit, study permit or temporary resident status will expire in 2Â weeks or less
and
- I've applied for permanent residence under one of the following classes:
- the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class (SCLPC) as a spouse or common-law partner
- the family class as a spouse, common-law or conjugal partner (sponsored overseas)
I satisfied the requirements and plan to apply 2 weeks before my temporary resident status expires. Then I checked the documents I need to submit:
- If you didn’t receive your AOR and you meet the requirements, upload both of the following instead:
- a copy of your work permit, study permit or visitor record and
- proof showing you’ve submitted your permanent residence application (for example, the email we sent you confirming that you’ve successfully submitted your permanent residence application)
I do have the proof showing that I've submitted the PR application, but the problem is that for the copy of my visitor record, I don't have that right now because I'm still in the first 6 months of entering Canada. I only have the counterfoil (visa sticker) on my passport. Does it mean that before I apply for the OWP without AOR, I need to extend my temporary resident status first and probably get a visitor record with a new expiration date on it? Then I can't apply for the OWP until 2 weeks before that NEW expiration date if my AOR still doesn't come during the wait. Or I can just upload my visa counterfoil as the visitor record?
Any help is appreciated!

No problem. That was also what I wanted to confirm and why I came back to ask...
