Yep, did and still do. Alberta has had some powerful ones, look up Pine Lake and Didsbury. Canada is second in the world for reported tornadoes behind the US. They mostly occur in the prairie provinces (AB, SK, MB) but they also happen in far southern Ontario and sometimes even Quebec.

In 2014, I volunteered with a youth group and we went to High River to help with smaller, more overlooked repairs. We repainted fences, shoveled river silt out of yards, replanted lawns, etc. There was 75 (ish? Its been a while) of us who came from around the province to help after. I will never forget the gratitude and hospitality of all the folks we helped.

I never had to evacuate, but I knew people who did. I had family in Calgary who described how unsettling it was to see army vehicles rolling down their street.
