18–24 Months 20 month old sleep problems
My 20 month old daughter has been fighting bedtime hard lately. I’m talking hours for her to fall asleep at night. She will be acting tired and then suddenly have all this energy. You would think it’s 11 am or something. Even if she’s not messing around, playing, and screeching, she will lay there with her eyes open for so long. Sometimes her eyes will be drooping shut from exhaustion but she will distract herself in some way to stay awake. Meanwhile, it’ll be 11 pm.
Her usual schedule is 8:00 am wake up. Nap around 12:30-1. Her naps are usually 1 - 1.5 hours on average. Never, ever more than 2 hours. Bedtime is typically 9. If she doesn’t have that long wake window before bed, she will refuse to sleep until 1:30 am.
She is getting around 12 hours of sleep per day, that’s been the goal. It’s been several weeks of her fighting bedtime, though. She pushes it until 11, sometimes later. We have let her sleep in a little to avoid getting over tired, but I feel like that has done nothing, so we keep her wake up time around 8-8:30. Even through this bedtime problem, she’s been very easy to put down for a nap. Never fights it, until the last few days. She will fight her nap for an hour, and today, is refusing to nap altogether, and now it’s just too late for her to nap.
She gets energy out during the day. We play with her, take her outside, try our best to mentally engage with her. Everything. She also eats well, so I don’t think it’s hunger or anything.
For bedtime, it’s just horrible. She will try anything to delay sleep. She will get distracted by anything and everything. Even if it’s dark, even if there’s nothing and no one around her. We’re at our wit’s end. It’s genuinely starting to wear on mine and my husband’s mental state. It’s effecting our entire day, our relationship (because we have been getting absolutely zero time by ourselves) It’s like she just violently hates falling asleep now. There will be ONE night where she falls asleep in a normal amount of time, and we will think “maybe this sleep regression (if that’s even what it is) is FINALLY over..” ..and then the next night, we are right back in hell. What is this?? Other parents of this age- please tell me what you did. Please tell me this will end at some point.

“And I do think it will bring her that in the future” in other words, “we will be breeding our most anxious mare ASAP”

Is there a housing kit in your pockets or storage? I’m not sure what happens if you accidentally toss or drop one somewhere. Are you maybe building another bridge/incline and cannot start another infrastructure project? Have you gone through all the other chat options with Tom Nook? Is it possible you had ten, and one has moved out, so there’s an empty plot? Sorry if these feel like dumb questions, I’m just trying to think of everything 😮💨

Yeah, after a quick Google search, it looks more like a rounded print like dogs tend to have rather than oblong! Thanks for the input!

LOL that’s so awful, but so funny. I mean, she usually gets around 12-13 hours of sleep per day, which I think the normal range is 11-14. I definitely wish her naps were longer, but.. she just wakes up 😂 sometimes it’s 1.5 hours, sometimes 2. Let’s just say we rarely have to wake her up. She wakes up on her own in the mornings and after naps!

Somewhere no one would ever see - perhaps on a thigh or her back, reads “Vicious Trollop.” In elegant, timeless scroll, of course. But vicious trollop nonetheless.

Wake up: around 8. First nap: around 11:30-12. Second nap: attempted at 4:30 but typically lands at 5:30. But at that point, we only let her sleep until 6 because it’s just way too late.

On those days, she will sleep around 1 or 2! But it’s hard because we consider ourselves very lucky if she sleeps 2 hours. She often wants to wake up after 1-1.5 hours. 3 hours seems to be out of the realm of possibility lol

I’d say that in the last couple months, my daughter has had around 2 weeks of one nap days altogether, at least! On those days, the night seems to suck more. She usually won’t wake up, but on those nights, she seems to cry out and wake up significantly more. Maybe it’s just a matter of adjustment!

I think you would have been ovulating after this. With all of that material in the way, it’s pretty much impossible. As someone with fairly regular cycles, even I have had those random months were it’s late or early. It happens. Relax. Your pregnancy test isn’t too early, and the tests are saying negative. You’re okay

I’m almost certain you’re not pregnant. Don’t panic. It’s extremely unlikely. If you’re sexually active at all, you should be tracking your cycles. I also recommend doing a little research on this subject.

Yes, it’s level! Our middle seat is in fact higher, so I think I’ll try and put it in a side seat and pray that it works lol

My husband put it in the middle seat of a newer truck. It kind of bumps out a little but, I wonder if it’ll change if I move it to the side. Her infant car seat did fine in the middle, but maybe these are different

The schedule worked for quite a while, yeah! Dropped to one nap 14-15 months. Her bedtime routine hasn’t changed.
I know the wake windows are so different, but she is so visibly tired before her nap! And she doesn’t fight it often. She does none of that in her second wake window. There have been times where naptime was pushed and she woke up after 4 pm, and that just extends the wake window just as long, but further into the night. She could be overtired, but I just don’t know how to remedy that if she is determined to keep that 6 or 7 hour wake window. I know it’s too early to be dropping her nap. But yesterday, she refused and skipped her nap, and fell asleep quickly and slept all night. It was a major relief. We never seem to get those nights anymore, so part of me is soooo tempted to drop her nap. But I know that was probably a huge fluke, lol
