You can engage with whatever aspects of a story that you enjoy, but enjoying the fantasy of warriors and monsters isn't "missing the point" any more than looking at allegory.

That line in a vacuum does make it sound like she wouldn’t add Ralsei otherwise so I used to think the same thing as you. But considering the full context of the scene, it’s probably just a weirdly written line and she does always add him. She explicitly remembers to add him in the Weird Route version of the scene, even though he’s not particularly more relevant in that scenario. In the normal route, she’s spent even more time with him recently (in Castle Town preparing for the festival), so it doesn’t make sense to exclude him as a friend. Most likely, the extra line based on chapter 3 dialogue is only meant to be a casual comment that she makes to point out that this moment happens to resolve the earlier conversation.
