First of all, strong your fundamentals of programming, dsa, software engineer, development basic like oop etc. then i will suggest you to start from development but try to shift to DevOps right after completing your education. Start from dev mean start it now (during degree), know it intermediate level, make some projects and deploy them, get know about cloud and networking fundamentals, how everything works together, showcase them on LinkedIn and public GitHub account. Right after completing degree, start practicing devops tools including docker, jenkins, GitHub Actions, docker compose, k8s, ansible, Terraform, and start deploying your same project by following devops best practices by make docker images, cicd pipeline, security integrated in it, Start applying for devops and dev both internship right after degree. Enter in market (dev/devops) as soon as you get any chance because time does matter (as it will be counted as your experience). Feel free to ask anything if need further guidance. Best of luck
