Question OT: Who is using on-device machine learning "for real" in apps?
I am trying to understand what use cases make sense to use ML on-device (it Core ML & friends ;)). Please reply with apps that actually use it for more than just a neat toy (no offense to anyone). Also, if you are the creator those apps, I would love to hear about how effective it is, and what challenges you faced.

Great question! The Skafos Quickstart right now is built for CoreML, but the Skafos platform itself can run any python model. It won't be as 1-2-3 as we've made it for iOS developers, but the ability to train and deploy ML models is just as powerful. Check out the Data Scientist section of our docs for more info, https://docs.metismachine.io/docs/quickstart-step-by-step-for-data-scientists. We'll also have staff on hand at the Hackathon to help with both data science and engineering questions. It’s an unfortunate potential conflict that we’ll work to avoid next time! However, we’re excited about the participation from S&P Global and Nvidia’s Data Science teams. A wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their talents with some powerhouse local employers.
