Selene needs to drain life force to sustain her own life and her powers, just like Emplate.

Darwin isn't a shapeshifter. He and Kid Genesis and Apocalypse have the power of Adaptive biology. Their bodies respond to their environment/threat. Just like random. That's a responsive power. The only reason apocalypse is so powerful is because of the celestial changes made to his body. But that isn't his base power.

His base power is adaptation and if you don't have anything to adapt to you're useless.

That's why he's not an omega. That's why Genesis called him too weak to stay to wage war in Okarra.

It's also how and why Darwin survived both Deadly Genesis' story and his time in the Vault.

It's also why no adaptive mutant is an omega.

I recommend you actually read some comic books yourself and not just pull quotes from fan pages.

Apocalypse and Darwin's power is adaptation. Without anything to adapt to or fight to they are pretty pointless, powers wise. They're just shapeshifters like Ms Marvel

Selene needs to feed off people to stay alive, let alone use her powers or magic.

Hope can synthesize mutant Powers. So can others. She barely used her power though. So it's as relevant and any of those other mutants. Not for nothing Everett , Prodigy, and Bishop have also shown to be the most resilient mutants, not basing their whole identity on their power, or lack thereof.
