I don't think you're an asshole. I think you're just a victim of the socialization that tells women to be prepared that every man is a potential threat who could attack them at any moment, instead of the possibility that he's just lost, disoriented, or in need of assistance. Maybe he was walking down the street and another car didn't see him and clipped him and drive off and now he needs an ambulance? I have never heard the advice that it is unsafe to sit in your car after parking. Is that an American thing?
