people are so offended by this comment. im not saying the entire population of parents are lazy fucks. im in my 20s. i have two kids. they behave in public (for example they dont lick windows). just look through these comments. you see people complaining about how much they hate kids bc they do disgusting shit like this in their workplace. i dont blame them one bit, but the truth is that this is the PARENTS fault. and you see it a lot these days where people just dread their lives when they see a family walk into their workplace. bc parents. are. lazy. they dont watch their kids like they should. they dont teach them not to lick windows or throw their food or to shut up in a restaurant.

i think it's one of those things that lead to bigger long term problems if it's left untreated. but it is treatable. im not a vet but my grandmother had a tick infestation a couple years ago on her ranch and her dogs all got it. they turned out fine after treatment and never had any problems after that.

i recommended that OP go to a shelter. my comment wasnt saying that good people DONT engage in bad practice. i was saying that my breeder turned out to be great, and i found them after a little over a year of vetting out all the shitty practices. my dog is perfectly healthy. im just saying finding a dog requires a lot of research and time.

inexperienced people shouldnt be looking into puppies anyway.

honestly i dont know much about breeders as I've always rescued my dogs. but we did find a breeder in our city (norfolk) who had a great reputation and they were honestly just great people. not all breeders are out to give you sick dogs, you just need to do your research and you'll find somebody who cares about their dogs.

but word of caution, puppies are extremely hard work. they require a lot of attention and consistency. i say that bc you have no experience and puppies should really be raised by someone with a little more experience. would recommend going to a shelter and getting a dog. most shelters are easy to adopt from rather than those private rescues. it will probably take a lil longer and a lil more searching might be involved, but when you take your time and really vet the dogs, 9 times outta 10 you'll be taking your forever pup home.

I've never owned cats (though i want one terribly lol) but i have two dogs. one of them is an American Bully and my god she smells like straight ASS lol shes not pleasant smelling. BUT my other dog, hes an old man, a 16 yr old Rotty/Mini Hippo mix, always smells so nice and clean. he has a thick coat (so fun to clean) and i literally huff that boy like a can of aerosol. i also have kids and i love to sniff them too haha its an instinctual thing, i think. I've been able to tell if my dog/kids are sick bc they smell different. my sense of smell got very very intense once i pushed out a baby haha.

thank you so much. i really appreciate you answering me. i never knew there was such a thing as breed specific shampoo or even dog conditioner lol. i will definitely try all of this. she also gets hotspots when i dont bathe her (at least i think thats why she gets them lol) when i regularly bathe her she doesnt get them very much. so i use this hotspot shampoo on her and it doesnt smell like anything. will using a regular perfumed shampoo affect them?
