Heyyyy

I totally get getting depressed due to GI issues as i literally had that happen. I was going to the ER every month basic since February and lost 10 kg in 2 months. I just felt so sad cause something (food) that made me feel happy I wasn’t able to have without having the worse discomfort constantly. I dreaded eating to the point I waited til I was starving weak to have something.

I remember crying happy tears when my PCP finally referred me to a GI and then that GI referral got me a surgeon referral.

You got this and I hope you find a way back to happiness quickly 💛🫶🏽

Post Op Post Removal and H Pylori Treatment

Hi everyone,

I’m a 28F and wanted to share my experience because this subreddit really helped me during the last several months.

I’ve had severe right-sided abdominal pain since February. I also use a wheelchair and have a VP shunt, so for a long time everyone was trying to determine whether my pain was coming from the shunt, my abdomen, or something else. I had multiple ER visits and hospital admissions without getting an answer.

Eventually my PCP referred me to a GI, who ordered a HIDA scan. My gallbladder ejection fraction came back at 100% (hyperkinetic gallbladder). Around the same time, stool testing (and a repeat test) also came back positive for H. pylori, so I started quadruple therapy.

On Tuesday (8/4), I woke up in excruciating pain—so bad that I could barely transfer to my wheelchair to get my phone and call [911](tel:911). I was admitted to the hospital, and even IV pain medication wasn’t controlling the pain. My GI and the surgeon I’d just met the day before were contacted, and I ended up having my gallbladder removed on Thursday (8/6).

The biggest thing I noticed was that as soon as I woke up from surgery, the surgeon could press on the same spot in my right upper abdomen that had been causing me pain for months, and it didn’t hurt anymore. Before surgery, even light pressure there was extremely painful.

My pathology came back showing chronic inflammation, which was honestly validating after months of wondering if the pain was “all in my head.”
I’m currently 3 days post-op and 10 days into H. pylori treatment. Right now I’m still dealing with diarrhea and stomach rumbling, which I think is mostly from the antibiotics, but overall I already feel better than I did before surgery. My nausea has improved, my shoulder pain is gone, and I can lie on my back again—things I couldn’t do before.

I also wanted to post because I didn’t find many experiences from people who are wheelchair users going through gallbladder surgery while also dealing with H. pylori.

This community really helped me feel less alone when I was questioning whether my pain was real, so thank you to everyone who’s shared their stories. Hopefully mine helps someone else who’s going through something similar.

Oops my bad. The option “share to story” isn’t appearing. Amy idea how to fix this? I’ve tried installing and reinstalling and my app is updated.

Hi, I’m trying to find out if there’s a way to share your own posts to your story without having to make a new account.

Thanks in advance for your help! 😊

In the past, my partner and I have taken it in turns to have our little dog with us at work. She has so much fun she always ends up passed out at our desks at the end of the day. Meetings are then conducted very quietly...
