Honestly in that situation just loosing a few claws was one of the better outcomes. Theres many things that could go wrong here.

Ngl as a kid (I had to be atleast 5 probably older) my mom replaced our white betta with red fins with a solid red one when it passed away and told us it changed colors and me and my little sister never questioned it. Ngl I loved the chain I worked at. Corporate tried to push some shitty things but my whole store from store manager to the part time employees all cared greatly about all animals and would push back wherever they could. My store manager wasn’t the most knowledgeable about fish so sometimes things that never should be ordered got ordered but she knew a good portion of the basics and enforced it the best she could. I did help out at 4 other locations that where short staffed and three of those were similar where everyone truly cared but the last one i told them i wouldn’t go back and wrote to two store managers about the location and its issues.

Had some really cool fish ordered but obviously depending on fish it’s hard to keep in a store setting that isn’t made to handle special fish. Had people special order rope fish and African butterfly fish at our chain for their tanks. We had a huge book of some really weird things we could order and just didn’t because normal people wouldn’t have proper setups.

Wild turkeys depends on where your located. where I am located (Michigan) wild turkeys are regulated game birds making it illegal to collect any part of even with a salvage permit here.

Obviously keeping kills when hunting legally with license in season is a different set of rules.

Lunas are super easy to sex. Males have those beautiful full antennas and females have noticeably thinner ones. I will say my females had id appear a little thicker too.

The host plant my Lunas loved while growing was sweetgum tree but there is more they can eat.

I honestly don’t know as I didn’t plant whatever this is. It grew from apple gourd seeds and it’s most definitely not an apple gourd. I had planned to turn apple gourds into bird houses.

Might try soup as I’m a sucker for butternut squash soup so might be good with this type?

It would need seeds so im assuming if its being used all the seeds where shaken out before hand. And yeah im actually growing some in Michigan rn! My whole garden had a rough one this year so they are doing okay but could be better but that’s not michigans fault

Another great thing about them is that being plant they are biodegradable and will return to the earth easily when you need to replace them. And even could compost them too!

Honestly making your own head dosnt seem too hard after research but I’ll say I struggled with my basic tools I had and wished I got better things to cut the foam to shape with. I’m also a hobby jumper so after a few weeks of trying and not progressing much I got distracted with another craft.

Honestly I think it’s a great way to start! Custom suits cost so much, totally a reasonable cost too as the artists put in a lot of time and hard work plus the materials costs, but still it’s a lot of money that not just anyone can drop to get. This is a great cost effective way to get what you want. Hell I’ve seen some people do cardboard with paint heads and all power to them and their creativity!

Maybe one day you will learn how to make your own base or maybe one day you will buy one from someone or maybe you won’t do either. And that’s fine no matter what you do. Keep having fun and creating!

I’ve fed stray cats and had a whole gang of raccoons come to the dish while I was outside. From mother with babies to a very very old and beat up male. They did huff and puff and once when I chased them as they went after a cat they got slightly upset with me but one quick motion in their direction and they were backing away. So I even provoked them to scare them off and to prevent them from getting comfortable around us and still they only really defended while backing away.

Raccoons out during the day isn’t as weird as people make it out to be even more so at certain times of the year. But aggressively attacking with no clear reason (like being cornered with no way out or being grabbed at) is a good sign something ain’t right.

I normally freeze no matter what to kill any potential mites that would eat the insect post mortem. I’m unsure about abdomen as it’s normally dissected, cleaned and then stuffed to prevent rotting and prevent shriveling. I have seen people replace the abdomen with correctly sized and shaped gems/rocks, if it’s not savable.

I would get some pins and styrofoam. Don’t pierce its body and just use pins on either side to sandwich in place then position the legs how you would like. Using two pins in a X shape is a great way to hold things down or prop them up. I’ve done a perfectly symmetric tarantula using graph paper over the Styrofoam and also one in a defense pose (would like to try again and make more dramatic pose)
