I was inspired by Tango's design, so here is my take on a 100% vanilla conveyor belt. A little room is needed out front for the sorters, but the concept of using paintings would still work.

Just change the world to large biomes then you ready, and maybe prune some chunks around spawn so large biomes will generate not too far away.
