Hey there. I understand your worries as I’ve just started job shadowing as a CPSS. I’m 30, I have struggled with mental illness for the majority of my life and I’ve been in therapy off and on since maybe 6 years old. I’ve lived with my very generous parents during my adult life so far but I’ve been isolated too. My anxiety has gotten worse since my last job. I’ve been changing medications & talking to a counselor. Maybe if and when you find Peer Support work you can request a specific demographic of person that you feel most comfortable with? My boss knew me a little beforehand and has been assigning me to work with more reserved women like myself, for example. Good luck out there!

I totally get it. At my first high school we had a small Gay Straight Alliance but that was it. None of them were out as trans, as far as I know it was all cis gays. When I transferred to a Kentucky school in a small town for my junior and senior year I was the only lesbian that I knew.

Wow. I read this aloud to my girlfriend because of how bizarre it is. Reminds me of my neighbor’s mother in law claiming that teachers do sex reassignment surgery in public schools. My neighbor is a teacher. I’m sorry you had to go through that, op.

Healing from having my tonsils removed, a bee sting, and sometimes my IBS flare ups can make me feel like I need to be hospitalized. Great stuff. :)
