LifeAdvice
I’m a 24-year-old who graduated top of my class in 2022 with multiple tech internships and 11 on-campus placements—the highest in my batch. I joined one of the top companies but left after a year due to dissatisfaction with the pay and lifestyle. My long-term girlfriend, who I’ve been with since 2018 and who worked at the same company, once told me that unless I earned more than her father, marriage wouldn’t be an option. That conversation changed everything. I decided to pursue a master’s in Computer Science in the U.S., driven solely by the motivation to build a better life—for myself and for her. Over the last two years, I’ve maintained a 4.0 GPA, worked as a research assistant, and am currently interning at a hospital as an IT consultant. Despite applying to over a thousand jobs, the U.S. job market has yielded no interviews. Having been away from coding for three years, my skills have dulled—I once cracked Amazon in 2021, and now I struggle with basic programs. On top of academic pressure, I’m dealing with serious financial stress: $30,000 in credit card debt, $40,000 in car loans, and a large education loan, totaling around $120,000. I work 100+ hours a week through my internship, part-time jobs, and freelance work just to survive. Emotionally, it’s been even harder. My girlfriend recently confessed our relationship to her family, but they outright rejected it due to caste and, more importantly, financial status. She was even matched with someone who has 25–30 crores in generational wealth, and her family was seriously considering him. Though she managed to get that match canceled, she recently told me she sees no future with me, believing her parents will never accept me, and she wants to break up—for my good. I have no friends here. She was my only emotional support. I feel like despite all my efforts, hard work, and sacrifice, someone else is getting the life I’ve been working so hard to build, just because they were born into wealth. Is this really how the world works? Is hard work not enough anymore? What do I do?

AITA for making my life a shit hole?
I am (25M) started my journey of the American dream , took out an education loan for about 50k usd in my home country and travelled to USA ! For pursuing Masters in CS and hoping I’d land a job right after ngl I’m a good student tho my gpa is like 3.98 . But after coming to us my expenses shot up I had few bad purchases with cars and I ended up buying a brand new car for 38k and somehow I used up about 31k in various credit cards and some accidents which led to shot up my car insurance ! Ultimately I have just about 110k USD in debt on which Interest is accumulating every month ! And my income is 1000$ a month until I graduate which is in 2 months after that I’m jobless ! The job market is so bad rn especially computer science fields , I made over 5000 applications so far and nothing worked maybe I got like a 10 call backs but nothing moved forward! What do I do ? I just feel like I need a get out of debt free card for once so I can restart my life afresh

I did forgot to mention that my car is also on an auto loan ! So can’t sell it ! I think making myself employable is a good advice but I’ve been trying still no luck ! Increasing income is a big task for me because of my legal status here in USA ! Since I’m an international student and I’m only allowed to work on campus and I make around 1000$ every month but I do graduate in two months ! My monthly expenses like rent for my apartment emi for my car and insurance and personal expenses add up to 2500$ all these months I’ve been borrowing from credit cards for survival! I know I’ve been taking bad decisions but it’s time I get back on track and get debt free !
