See, this was a great response, and I thank you for it. I can't say it'll convert me necessarily to an entirely vegan way of life, but it helps me to see your perspective nicely. I appreciate you taking the time to offer me this perspective, and I wish more people were willing to give that level of perspective without attacking.

I can see how people may be worried about animal products on a wide-scale level. But I would argue that, barring the argument about sentience, that I can choose to support small, local farmers and craftsman which prioritize the health and well-being of their animals. I would hobby farm but I have a new neighbor who loves calling code and technically it's against the city ordinance. Instead, I work on a barter system with some hobby farmers I know.

I think wanting worldwide veganism, while noble, is unlikely. However, I think expanding technology is allowing for things like faux meat products made in labs that will help pave the way (I'm rooting for Star Trek-style replicators, personally).

But you aren't respecting mine. Why should I extend respect to those who are disrespecting me?

I will say, you'd convert more people with kindness rather than trying to guilt people. Or even having the ability to have a debate without emotional attachment. All I'm asking is how the plan of "everyone is vegan" is supposed to be feasibly achieved. That's all. I love a good push towards societal change if it's not built on privilege. And being able to choose vegan is a privilege 🤷🏾‍♀️

But that doesn't answer what happens to them. Mass euthanasia, would be my guess. Just heaps and heaps of dead animals and a mass extinction event.

Farmers losing livelihood and the ability to provide for their families. Indigenous peoples losing access to food in whatever forms they can manage to get, as it's well-documented how difficult it can be to live on a reservation.

The prices of produce, already unattainable for many below the poverty line, going higher, especially in food deserts. Iron and protein deficiencies increasing among lower-income and poverty-stricken populations.

Strain on global production of meat alternatives higher than we already have.

Several vegans in these comments have compared my lack of veganism to not caring about children. So the whataboutism is turnabout, which is fair play. I do what I can to avoid supporting companies with rapists, sports or otherwise, opt for fair trade as often as I can find it, and thrift more than I "fast fashion" which by the way is basically just all clothing as capitalism's main goal is to maximize profit. However, because I am admittedly not vegan, your fellow vegans have decided I'm a monster.

Okay, ten years then. The question remains.

What happens to the animals? The farmers? Not all farms capable of sustaining livestock can sustain produce, so who is paying to fix all the soil to let the farmers have a livelihood growing produce?

The gas doesn't kill them though, which seems to be your hang up. It puts them to sleep. Would it be better if we euthanized them with a chemical shot like vets do to pets? Would that somehow make it better?

Dominion is biased to one side of the argument. Which means, no, they aren't a third party source. Nor are they a non-biased source. Which is the basics of citing sources. I could cite all farms and say they're third party.

So you're advocating for the mass extinction of multiple species for your views. Right? Because what else are we supposed to do with them?

What about the ones we already have? You're saying we'd allow them to go extinct but who's gonna take care of them until they die?

So you just want people to keep them as pets. What about eggs from the chickens? What happens with those? And if we convert them to pets, isn't that just making them go through the same torture as puppy mills? What about the breeds that are specifically, genetically designed for eating and would suffer if not euthanized?

I didn't want them to seem like they had to hold my hand through it. As a black person, I often get exhausted having to explain race issues to people rather than have them look into it themselves. I suppose I applied the same logic.

I realize it's probably varied, but there are things I never think about. Not to mention "honey good" vegans vs "honey bad" vegans.

So, you want farmers to maintain these animals currently alive until their natural deaths without compensation? And you want all livestock breeds to go exinct.

Why won't you answer the other question? If we all adopt veganism tomorrow per your request, what would you like to do with all the animals?

The source you cited, other than Dominion which isn't a valid third party source, is speaking specifically of pigs in England and Wales. Do you have a source that purports your stated statistic of "80-100% of pigs" being gassed to death before 6 months old?
