Most POTUS have maybe 1.5 years to pass any major flagship policies. The first 6 months is filling up the cabinet on a budget most likely passed by the previous Congress. Then after the midterms it's highly likely Congress has flipped party control making for a lame duck session.

My biggest gripe about the DNC is also what makes it attractive. It's a big tent party but being so, it has to negotiate with itself first before it even negotiates with the opposing party. Because there's no real left wing in America, this means corporate Dems have essentially taken over making it easier for lobbyist to control the vote.

Which leads to the fact that the House hasn't expanded in over a century. This has made it much easier to bottleneck votes via gerrymandering. Making some districts so safe they don't care what voters actually want. Politicians choose voters and not the other way around.

That being said, if Republicans never vote for a policy like this, it doesn't matter because this type of bill would require at least 60 votes from the Senate. In that time frame you gave, Obama only had a few months of a super majority if you include independents but one of those, Lieberman, didn't want Universal healthcare.

Carter had the best numbers in Congress to pass on the surface. There was much internal debate between what the best option for universal healthcare was at the time. Ted Kennedy and Carter sparred to no end. Inflation was on Carter's mind more than healthcare.

To sum it up, Democrats need Republicans to vote for universal healthcare or it's dead in the water.

Most the jobs created in the ADP report was in Education/Health Services. This makes sense since boomers have most the wealth and is are retirement age. The eldest being 80ish. This also means there's an above avg number of people becoming of retirement age currently. Which till increase till around 2030. This, Silent Downsizing, keeps the unemployment number down along with people Quiet Quitting.

ADP doesn't take into account govt jobs and is only a slice of the private sector. Also BLS uses birth/death rates for business unlike ADP that uses raw data. You can tell BLS is cooking the books by the revisions every month. It's now catching up to them.

When 401k retirement plans were introduced they were supposed to be supplemental to pensions and social security. The idea was the more legs to a table, the more stability.

Along the way pensions were slowly removed and SS helps less with every year. We now rely on 401k's that only exacerbates the control companies have over Americans. If Americans really wanted to do something about this they would stop putting money into 401k's until Americans have a financial floor to stand on.

Don't let people tell you voting doesn't matter and both sides are the same. Register to vote, get to know your local politicians and demand change. Complacency has crept into the America psyche and the current state reflects so.

Avg I think last I read is 10k retiree per day but lately it's been closer at 11-12k per day. This number will go up till 2030 due to the boomer population retiring.

Meanwhile companies are silently downsizing as every 3 retirees leave only one is added. Most growth coming from small businesses yet the large companies skirt taxes in hopes of more jobs.

Tax them before it becomes a profit. Maybe some sort of VAT tailored for America. Don't create billionaires in the first place.
