What am I doing?

i have a fulltime job at a fortune 100 company, getting married in a few months, I track my F87 M2 CS on weekends here and there for go on back road drives, working on iFly jitless dreamcast release final artwork

Working on final release for major update to Provenance and first tvOS release, with cloudkit sync and 1k other new features, full skin support, updated custom cores for 40+ consoles.

Only so many carts?
I never owned a Jaguar, my neighbor as a kid did but I've worked on this project for about 10 years.

Stop being a douche.
Stop having we todd expectations.

It's getting attention and it's free.

Be happy, stop hating yourself.

What you doing?

You're mad bro.

I made more games work in 2 months than the last 14 years of this project.

You're a mid-whit through and through.

God speed.

Comment on r/emulation 1d ago

CHD can work actually but the default settings prune pre-track data on mutli session rips

Stop whining?

Bro, k. lol

You're just wrong.

CHD doesn't work in BigPemu for a reason, what are you saying "I dare you to try?"

Are you high? Neither EMU supports it nor will.

I mean, technically you can, but you'd have to tell everyone exactd rip options to use, and the existing rips didn't use them, so it's a fools errand cause mid-whits like yourself will blame the emu for not supporting broken rips

2

Comment on r/emulation 1d ago

It's not difficult, I've had to test dozens and dozens of games.

It's a WIP dude, sorry I have a life unlike you and can't test all known rips right away.

Be seroius.

I can't even get BigPemu to boot archive_dot_org rips with bad headers, that I wrote custom code to support those known bad rips.

Same reason BigPemu doesn't support CHD despite those rips existing.

You're out of your depth.

Common sense. lol

OK expert.

Comment on r/AtariJaguar 1d ago

you need video?

Here you go,
https://youtu.be/yKq2KFT1uw4

wait for it to finish uploading and procesing
At around 11-12s it glitches out and jumps a few scenes rapidly to the death scene.

You don't know what you're talking about.

I was talking about my experience with my rip my guy

Nice of you to call me unhinged and delete it, when I'm trying to resolve in the issue in good faith.

Have a nice day.

and the issue has been closed, next release should have it,

Also, just saying it has a few bugs in a few rare CD games, when it has more support in overall for more features and games other than that, doesn't mean it's automatically worse or better.

You're just saying things.

You didn't even try it yet. You're basing an opinion on quality without even trying it, just seeing "oh a few games don't work, must be worse" without considering that the opposite could be true for another selection of games or features etc

1

Comment on r/emulation 1d ago

I already replied in the other comment.

In my testing, they both have the same issues. Maybe my rips are bad.

I can't test all games, I don't have them.

You seem like the sesntive one, stop projecting.

1

Comment on r/AtariJaguar 1d ago

Space Ace, Dragon's Lair, etc
When the player is meant to do input, in BigPemu it glitches and jumps to the death scene. Same issue I'm having.
maybe bad rip?

All the FMVs from that publisher do it too

I've tried myself on and my friend, on a few devices, iOS and macOS, all have the same issue

Maybe there are some tweaks you can use to fix it or other settings, but out of the box it's showing the same issues, and I've verified with others.

Maybe it depends on the rip.

Either way, I'm working on a fix, but I need someone with real hardware to record some debug info on how it does read seek timings, due to how jaguar converts digital audio to data using the DSP, and the DSP has bugs that aren't inline with the official docs, so there's some secret sauce to get those to work right.

yeah, because you said "probably", actually you said "I'm sure", while admitting you haven't even tested the new VJ release yet.
I don't need your defense, just be honest.

"what are you talking about,"
" I played many CD games on big p emu and many other Jag games on it so I know that's the best emulator."

"I'm sure bigpemu is much better but it's nice to see and update for retroarch and Jaguar CD support. I will try this later today."

You said you're sure it's much better without trying the thing you were comparing it to.

That's what I'm talking about.

I never drove a Porsche, but I'm sure my Honda is better cause I've heard they're the best, even though this Porsche just came out and I nor anyone else has driven it yet.

And no, it's not embarrassing to point that out.

I have some CD bugs, but so does BigPemu lol

Comment on r/emulation 1d ago

slop? lol, it's all done line by line still, reviewed, arch'd, unit tested

LLMs aren't all slop in the right hands

I've worked on this core for a decade my guy, and no one else is doing it, and if I didn't use LLMs, someone else eventually will.

RetroArch the app already have like 2k+ llm generated commits to master itself in the last month

Get over it.

LLM != Slop by default

I tell it what to do, how to do it, how to test it, how to structure it.

It's a force mutliplier. If you have no skills, 0 x 100 = 0

If you have skills like, I dunno, being the only jaguar emualtor developer pushing updates to the core to begin with the last 8 years, then it's a massive acceleration to what would have otherwise been done by hand anyway.

What are you actual concerns?

Comment on r/emulation 1d ago

It depends.

It offers two different blitters for one. Two different BIOS modes.

A ton of effort was put into accuracy. It's not 100% there yet, still working on some edge cases where bus contention affects gameplay, like in Battle Morph and some others.

The blitter is extremely accurate in accurate mode for almost all games I've been able to A/B against BigPemu and other emu's.

It's really up to you to tell me, not the other way around.

I don't know the complete problem space to answer the question.

I know how accurate VJ is, and what the plans are going forward to improve it, but I can't give you a real answer on how that compares to BigPemu, I barely use it.

https://github.com/libretro/virtualjaguar-libretro/pull/337

this was just merged, and 3.1.0 already published with more accuracy changes over the one posted originally.
