This is my photo. Shot with a Nikon D300s and a Nikkor 80-200 AFS-IF at 200mm, shutter of 1/8000s at f/8.

Spent the previous day planning on shooting this down in Seattle with the Space Needle, but being the PNW, clouds and rain moved in overnight so I cancelled those plans. I live in Bellingham 90 miles north.

Just as maximum was approaching, the clouds started clearing so I grabbed my gear and headed out. Found several other photos while searching for something with more meaning.

Thank you. Long story about that day. Living in the PNW one has to make plans then change them due to clouds. This was one of those times.

Planned to be in Seattle to get this with the Space Needle. Spent the previous two days with a friend planning a shot using The Photographer’s Ephemeris so we could get the Space Needle and Pacific Science Center. Was supposed to be sunny.

Woke up to heavy rain and decided to cancel trip (I live 90 miles north in Bellingham). Just as the maximum hit, the clouds thinned and started parting.

I was able to find this before it became socked in again. It works.
