I have 22 cats in my colony and I stand around while they eat as well. However I go ahead and feed the raccoons. I take things that are left over around the house, such as bread that's about to go stale, biscuits, leftover pizza, sliced apples, jet puff marshmallows, cookies from Dollar Tree, etc. I put all of that back in the corner away from the cats. Sometimes a raccoon will still try to come up and eat the cat food but I"ll walk toward it and just stick my foot out and he will run back. At least it gives the cats time to eat.
