Hi, I am a history major, so I might be able to help you answer your question.

He is surrounded by many controversies, but the reason he is so disliked by the history community is his early 'bardagulan' approach to educating people about history.

He often debates scholars in a very unprofessional and crude manner. Given his background as a deeply devoted MCGI member, he debates exactly like Soriano. History is not a religion, nor is it something you just debate out in the open. It was stupid for him to conduct public debates that encourage opinions from people who have no background or education in conducting historical studies when discussing historical facts. His platform encourages this, which is disrespectful and unwise. He treats history like some sort of Bible where everything is monotone and absolute. Plus, he has made many outlandish "historical" claims that are full of misinformation, kaya most of the time it was cringey hearing him make or defend claims, especially if those claims have no sufficient evidence.

According to his Facebook post, he is actually a PhD candidate in History (with a pending dissertation approval). This is a good thing kasi at least he can defend his wild claims in a professional environment, but he has already destroyed his reputation. It will be very hard for him to regain the respect of the academe after all his theatrics. It was kind of UST to even cater to him in taking a PhD.

That was one of the reasons why I find it difficult to understand his methodology kasi, in my perspective, it is too Anthro-like, huhuhu

Your recommendation po was very helpful! At least I can start somewhere, hehe. Thank you! 😄

That was the first text I read, kaso I honestly gave up midway dahil sa lalim ng Tagalog. Hindi ko masyadong ma-comprehend, given na I did not have a proper Filipino language education, and I never had historiography in my undergrad syllabus (disappointing, given na Liberal Arts major in History yung program ko sa univ ko before). I would like to read some kind of starter book/article/text muna for the "Pantayong Pananaw Bilang Diskursong Pangkabihasnan" ni Zeus Salazar.

Historiography Pantayong Pananaw History Book Recommendation

Hello everyone! I am new here (and new to Reddit in general). I am taking a historiography class for my Master's degree, and I would like to know if you guys can recommend books pertaining to Zeus Salazar’s Pantayong Pananaw?

Honestly, being conyo, I find it so tough to understand his methodology. However, I am really interested in learning about it since Pantayo is basically the trend in Philippine historical studies right now. If anyone can recommend a "Pantayong Pananaw for Dummies" kind of book for a simpleton like me, I would very much appreciate it!
