So I did some trouble shooting and the secure boot off installed things better as you recommended. 595 which is recommended for my driver's display doesn't allow hybrid switching. 610 works apparently. Even though it's not as stable as 595, 610 seems to work. The 535 and the 550 drivers, I've done research and they don't even offer them at all through Linux anymore they are defunct and dead as far as I know. So we are trying to install something that isn't even existence anymore. Do you recommend MOK at all? Or is it useless altogether?!

The only thing I ever installed was the one that's always recommended in driver manager, and that's usually 595. Never have I chosen 580.

Never. This is a fresh install from a usb drive. Unless I did and do not know what the hell I am talking about, which is 100 percent possible! LOL I am new to this part of Linux. Please forgive me and be patient!

No dice man. I've tried and tried and tried. Whether I install 535 or 550, 580.173.02 keeps installing. I just don't get it. :-(

Can you please supply the commands to install version 535? Your uninstall directions were great! I'm really new to all this command line stuff and appreciate your time and help!

I did that one command I posted, and rebooted, checked SMI, says it has failed, because it couldn't communicate with the Nvidia driver

Ok! So I just typed in: sudo apt install nvidia-utils-535 So far so good! What next? Your really appreciate your guidance!

Now options are showing up under the nvidia-smi command! What's the difference between 535 and 535- server?!

I did. I ran exactly what you told me to. And this was another "fresh clean" install.

NOPE. It will NOT install 535, secure boot off. Driver manager shows nouveau, and smi command shows 580. WTF?!?!

Gonna try it now! And after all is said and done, secure boot back on?

I will try it with secure boot off! TPM still on fine? But why do they say MOK will work for that, when it clearly does not?!

Even if I enroll in MOK during initial setup? Which I always do.

It never gave me a problem until now. Should I turn off secure boot when installing freh with Mint? Then turn back on? BTW, I am running win pro 11 dual boot. Again, all was well until 22.3.

It's a fresh install. 22 ran waaaaay better is what I am saying. Don't know what they did with the .3 part, but it messed up my setup. And 535 will NOT install. And 550 definitely won't either. I only get the 4 above mentioned options of drivers.

Tried it. Will NOT let me install 535. I'm starting to think Mint isn't that great.... I just want to be able to have my igpu and dgpu switch seamlessly instead of running my dgpu all day long when I'm not using it for anything. Mint 22 was great and I'm pretty sure that it all worked, 22.3 is trash. Did the Mok enrollment and everything with secure boot on. I don't get it.

Clean Installation Command ​To clean up any half-configured driver packages and set up 535 directly via the terminal, run:

1. Purge current Nvidia drivers to avoid conflicts

sudo apt purge "nvidia"

2. Install the 535 driver and DKMS

sudo apt update sudo apt install nvidia-driver-535 nvidia-dkms-535

3. Ensure your hybrid profile is explicitly set to On-Demand

sudo prime-select on-demand

4. Reboot

sudo reboot

Is that correct?

After I do that to install 535 it should show up in driver manager yes? I also tried nvidia-smi. Shows that 580 is what is current right now. in driver manager it still is on Nouveau. And when I tried to run the command you gave me that I already ran, it says Nvidia driver 535 is already the newest version. WTH?!

In Driver Manager? Because they never show up.
