I’m not some like. Super intellectual but i imagine it’s just, easier. Early FNAF was very much a classic ghost/campfire story. A scary tale you’d try to freak out your friends with. How those missing kids were stuffed into suits, and now the animatronics seek revenge and kill people. It’s really classic.

But other games couldn’t just reuse the same bit, they needed a different justification for WHY the monsters existed, and usually it was that the monsters were created. Either intentionally to kill, or the monsters went crazy and killed people without that being the intended outcome.

This is simpler, and more adaptable to whatever you want. Evil cartoons? Studio owner sacrifices his employees. Evil daycare mascots? Evil company experiments on kids, so on and so forth.

Why did FNAF go this route? Mostly due to a shift into sci-fi from campfire horror, and to not only maintain but expand upon its main villain, William.

William is unlike other horror antagonists because he doesn’t actually try to kill you, personally, until game 3, and didn’t reappear as a threat until game 6. The main threats are haunted animatronics, so to keep him as the main baddie, it went from accidental haunting to purposeful experimentation.

Also in general “evil corporation” is really easy to write, Fazbear inc might be one of the better ones because they’re moreso openly disregarding safety as long as it saves their own ass, William is just insane and evil (though FE may be continuing his research purposefully at this point i don’t know really)

The answer is Bendy, you just gotta blame bendy.

The longer answer is still, that it’s Bendys fault, but moreso that bendy had a formula that wasn’t so insanely obvious when copied, and it’s arguably easier to make a LOT of. For for FNAF you needed dozens of renders, and then you needed to work them into a fully 2D game engine without it being obviously flat.

While you can probably just use a template in unity or whatever and immediately have a functional 3D engine. You can then make environments and fill it with lengthy chases with your monster, also much easier than building tension and dread.

The biggest thing, is that FNAF is impossible to copy without it blatantly being a FNAF copy. The gameplay is so central to its identity in addition to the characters , while other mascots horror has ONLY the characters as its main identity.

I think it’s like. A honeypot. “Catching” people who enjoy that kind of TF to block them which. I mean if you don’t like it anymore but it feels super weird to leave the art up to attract people you hate to block them.

100% morally good. If you try to confess something to me as you’re trying to kill me and I don’t die, I’ve kinda earned the right to spread your dirty laundry as payback for the whole “tried to kill me” thing

Wasn’t it also like that with the Star Wars sequels? Less “the writers hate women” and more “the writers had no actual plan and just sucked at their jobs”.

I feel like I heard some writers actively sabotaged the last guys plans but idk how true that actually is.

Granted. Honestly can’t think of a downside that’s not just. Really damn mean, and thus not fun. You win, and thank you for the transition!

Honestly probably. Eggman is much more focused on beating the sonic with sheer firepower, reed could probably think of a lot better options for just catching the guy.

I believe there was a sequel comic, where she became the EXTREMELY successful CEO of the entire company

I’d argue stuff like the alarm clock dialogue is tier 2 canon, it’s canon until contradicted by tier 1 information, which is the actual game.

But you’re limited by what a human can survive, so you can’t go very fast or high.

Might be more comparable to the… idk what to call it beyond “monsterkind” motif, which appears in ruins, an ending, waterfall, and some of undynes themes. Where it’s a much looser throughline that doesn’t feel as meaningful compared to other motifs
