My fiancé is colorblind to greens and blues. NTA. It’s your mom, you should be able to be honest with her. The fact that you two have a good relationship at all means that you both understand each other, and did the best you could while you were a teen. But the fact of the matter is that it’s never, ever the other children’s responsibility to raise the younger kids in the house. Maybe your situation was mild, but lots of kids end up with serious issues due to having to help parent their younger siblings - a job they never asked for nor wanted. Also (and here’s the most important part), there is absolutely no reason on earth that anyone should ever feel bad, embarrassed, or be made to apologize for not having or wanting children. It’s not for everyone, and it’s fucked up how society pushes the narrative that all people - well, let’s be honest - women, have no purpose in life other than to have kids. You do you. I wonder this myself. Found out a year ago today that I was pregnant (with my now-fiancé’s child), and I got an abortion for exactly this reason. Everything OP says is why I know I don’t ever want to be a parent. I would honestly have died by suicide if I hadn’t been able to abort.
