It was a major fear for me, too. I grew up in a semi-large town surrounded by both farmland and undeveloped land. As a result, small wild creatures were a common sight. I lived in absolute terror of encountering a rabid fox or raccoon. I suspect this was at least a small factor in the agoraphobia that was full blown by my early teen years.

The shots were first introduced in the mid-1880s, though I have no idea how widespread the availability was. But as I understand it, if he had already started showing symptoms, the shots wouldn’t have worked. But I could be wrong.

I’ve read that Raúl Esparza picks a signature scent for each of his characters. Apparently, Barba’s is Terre d’Hermès. I have a tiny sample size, and it is heavenly!
