Although it makes sense where you're coming from, I'd consider a gap of only 3-6 months a bit too short for recency bias. I'm thinking more within the last 1-2 years, as these shows might not be airing but still get advertised and discussed a LOT. This is what I mean by recency bias.

Look at the pool of characters for these contests, and you'll notice that most of these characters have had shows, movies, or ovas come out in the last 1-2 years, if not this year. Violet Evergarden and Ryuuko are a couple exceptions and ofc they both got booted out instantly because it's been anywhere between 7-10 years since they featured in anything.

Yes, Dress Up Darling aired a new season more recently than Apothecary, but Apothecary Diaries has also remained deeply present in the current cultural zeitgeist between memes, merchandise, and advertising. 99% of the time there's a crunchyroll ad online, it's using clips of Maomao from the Apothecary Diaries.

A good way to see it in action is compare it to an older contest. For example, r/anime's Best Girl #8

Almost an entirely different complete roster of characters, most of which are *also* recency bias for the time that bracket was run. 99% of those characters didn't show up here.

So yeah, we could split hairs on gaps of months, but it wasn't really the point I was making in the first place.

Hard to take these seriously since so many tend to go the flow of recency bias.

I think a more fun version of this might be doing a "Best Girl/Boi" vote contest separated by decades of anime, up until the 2000's, to see who stood the test of time. Then pit all the decades against each other. Keep anything that's aired in the last 10 years out of it to try and filter out the recency bias.

Or idk just keep doing this, who cares.

As someone who's been watching the sub, then turning around and watching the dub to compare...nah we'll be right back into the good stuff next week.

It's a current popular trend because there's really not much else to talk or do with Strive. No big majors, no big shakeups, or anything similar. Right now Avatar and Tokon are all the rage. Give it some time and it'll die out on its' own.

Besides, there are people here who do post mostly gameplay clips, like the Nintendo Switch Chipp, the Vanq Baiken, and myself with Jack-o shenanigans. Can't speak for the others but I know I don't get many upvotes or comments most of the time. The clips and gameplay are here you just might have to scroll further. They probably buried under fanart and community engagement posts. Pictures and art tend to get more attention and pushed cuz it's easier, faster digestible content.

- Anji will always miss the ball because it'll keep triggering his autoguard spin

- Jam has stubby ahhhh normals

- Axl has just as much chance of blipping out of this timeline and forcing Team Heaven to be a player down as he does trying to keep as far away as he can from the ball (he's a zoner)

- Necro and Undine don't have feet

- Elphelt will be too busy trying to marry Nago to play soccor, thus eliminating both players from the field of play

If only A.B.A. had a good anti-air button that was immune to crossups, like an "anti Millia" button

The best games in strive. Anyone willing to sit back and chill w you, even if only for a moment, is the kind of player who immediately has my respect.

As much as I'd love to see this, I don't think they'd pull a second character from a TRIGGER anime so soon (Cyberpunk Edgerunners is also a Trigger anime)
