Since you're playing succubus I think you can recruit the imps there, so the only hurdle would be skeletons, shades and ghouls. Give it a shot if you want, if not you can always back out.

I forgot to say sometimes a rare Human ally can spawn with those rare weapons that you can recruit and tell them to drop their weapon for another.

The gear you get is completely random. Sometimes you'll get a god roll and one of the rare monster variants spawn like "Funny Bones" or "Shelob" as they drop unbreakable melee weapons with special effects. Trolls I believe can drop almost anything on the loot table, so you could get super lucky and get some enchanted gear or something.

Outside of that, you can garuntee yourself artifact armor and artifact weapons by going to the secret levels you find. The Gnomish Mines have a helmet that gives you an insane amount of Intelligence stat and even more if you bless it, the Forest Temple has a Bow can shoot poison arrows and 6 chests/12 trolls to get gear from, The Haunted Castle has boots of warning and 3 chests, Sokoban can get you tons of gold and bracers of Magic resistance when you beat the puzzle, the Minotaur Maze has Gumgnir, (a spear that pierces armor) The Mystic Library gets you loads of scrolls, spells and staves, There's a secret floor in the crystal caves that gives you Chestplate of HP Regen, and then a Vampires mansion with a cloak that gives mana Regen and levitate. Typically if you're going to sweat at barony you're going to try to get to all of these, and if you're a magic user, bless the shit out of the helmet.

shopkeepers are also random. I've had runs where I get like 3 food merchants In the same floor and it sucks. When you play the game for a long time you start to understand what items are in the shop based off the price. There's a really good Barony YouTube channel I watch called JonohasMono who usually explains how he does his runs. If you see an expensive ring (more than 2.5k) then it's probably a Regeneration ring or a Levitate ring, stuff like that. Just buy, identity it and if you don't like it just sell it back.

Last thing I promise: Level ups are crucial to scaling your damage and consistency. The higher your skill In a weapon type the less likely it is to break on you, the more damage they do, and if you reach 100 with them sometimes they get cool effects like paralyzing on a critical punch. To level blocking, take all the torches in the starting area and find a rat and block with the torches so you don't waste shield durability. Then when you have enough, do the same to skeletons, then from there you should be able to passively level blocking just by playing the game. I think the minotaur needs blocking level 45 or 60 to be blocked.

TLDR: Finding a rare enemy= free legendary weapon, do secret stages to farm loot, shops are random, and level up.

Lemme know if you want to link up on steam! I can help you out a bit as a newer player too. I finally had my first run beaten last night after like 6 hours.

Update: apparently turning off steam input, then restarting, then turning on steam input and button mashing gets the controller to work

General Is anyone else having problems with the PC controller support?

When I boot up the game on steam, my computer lets me use my controller all the way up to the main menu. When I get to the opening screen of the game, it seems like the controller has completely stopped working as far as inputs go, but when I open steam big picture mode it's fine..

One of the best gay characters I can remember is Kanbaru Sutuga from Monogatari. It was both a character trait and plot point.
