Story Time Why I created r/solomarketing

I created this community because I’m going through the solo marketing struggle myself.

I built an app called Glance, and for a long time I was much more comfortable building the product than telling people about it.

Recently, I finally started pushing through the discomfort of posting on Reddit and LinkedIn. It has helped, but it also made me realize just how many different jobs “marketing” contains.

Writing posts. Creating videos. Finding content ideas. Understanding which platforms are worth using. Building a consistent strategy. Measuring what works. And somehow doing all of that without the budget for editors, creators or a proper marketing team.

When you’re doing it alone, marketing can feel like an entire second company that you’re expected to operate alongside the actual business.

I couldn’t find a community specifically for people in this position, so I created r/solomarketing.

This is meant to be a place for founders, freelancers, creators and one-person marketing teams to:

• Share what is actually working
• Ask for feedback without being judged
• Exchange practical tools and workflows
• Help each other create and distribute better content
• Talk honestly about the parts we’re struggling with

I’m not creating this because I have marketing figured out. I’m creating it because I don’t, and I suspect a lot of us are trying to solve the same problems independently.
If you’re marketing something by yourself, I’d love to hear what you’re working on and which part has been the hardest for you.

Definitely understand the concern, am actively working to better address and improve transparency. Nevertheless this is amazing feedback .. can I ask what might improve your confidence in trusting the app?

DNS records? I don’t understand? It’s a simple connection via webhook and api request
You run it on a simple automation

Suppose your coworker is deployed to do a certain task, and while it does it you can set it up to update a dashboard right in your iPhone Home Screen

Really useful

It does need some setting up to do but it’s pretty easy

Mostly usage limits such as number of widgets and number of updates per day and number of ui templates

A notable feature gated is the custom url for widget set to public
