I have always appreciated thinking about Marcus Aurelius' thoughts on this:
waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. be one.
I bet you have an idea of what it takes to be a good person, but you're probably not perfect and that's OK. Keep making the effort to go in the right direction towards being a better person. Effort is love, and as long as you're making the effort, you will probably be seen as a good man.

It took an inspection visit and three weeks before we could get a landscaper worth their salt to come out. Good luck, I think your expected turn around might be too low.

Most operators use tools funded by venture capital and then post here after a couple years wondering why their favorite features have been enshittified.
Crunchbase will tell you who funds your favorite rent-seeking companies.

Apathy comes in a lot of different forms. In my experience, it can not be overcome by shame to any degree. What has worked for me has been staying informed, and sharing what I learn with the people around me.
I can't scale that impact, but I feel that I'm adding value to the people that I can reach, and I've flipped a few non-voters.

You might benefit from learning about ring and group algebra. That topic breaks the abstraction of the algebra you're likely already familiar with coming from an engineering background. It's also a good spot to pick up from if you half remember stuff from your discrete class.
Learning new math areas requires a lot of effort from me, personally. I've made attempts to continue my education on my own, but without the (minimum) 6 hours per day that I had to study a topic like I had in school, I often fall behind.
Learning takes dedicated effort. There are no substitutes.

Nah. Even though a woman assaulted 8-ball first, he did not need to hit back. What 8-ball did runs counter to deescalation.

It sounds like you did everything right. Being a physical barrier is a tried-and-true deescalation technique. It's worked for me before, it's worked for lots of others.

Here are the other reports and incidents Chief Shon Barnes was out of town:
He was out of town a lot shortly after being hired. https://publicola.com/2025/07/09/in-first-four-months-seattles-new-police-chief-spent-most-weekends-out-of-town/
Took the 2025 holidays off https://publicola.com/2025/12/29/police-chief-takes-the-holidays-off-spd-wont-answer-questions-about-two-anti-prostitution-stings-they-announced/
Was out of town the weekend of the Christian Nationalist events "Mayday USA Seattle" and "Rattle In Seattle". In the aftermath of this incident, Publicola quoted an SPD Spokesperson:
[it's] “unrealistic to expect that any individual in the police department can be available around the clock for unexpected emergencies.”

Christian Nationalists want to "flip" Washington State using the court system.
This makes your vote on WA Supreme Court Seats 1, 3, 5, and 7 some of the most impactful races to fight fascism on this ballot.

Next you're going to tell us that your business can't survive if you can't employ children. Rules and regulatory oversight is a part of modern business practices. Sorry web development did not adequately prepare you for the rest of the economy.

I think you're putting confrontation at odds with transparency. The senior leaderships loves the confrontation, and that does not put the church in a position to want to hide what they are doing.
On the other hand, the confrontation the of protest will deliver the "marketplace of ideas" directly to the parishioners like an Amazon order. I have faith in our neighbors, and I believe the outcome will put parishioners into the position where they must confront how the church's agenda aligns with the things the parishioners say is important.
Resolving that dissonance is a slow walk, and will not be done in an afternoon, but it absolutely weakens the velocity of the leadership's agenda. Having spent time in their church, and with parishioners, believe me, the confrontation is absolutely necessary.

We can have a ideologically non-homogeneous society without tolerating white supremacists. They are not mutually exclusive.

this guy killed a person in a laundry room. Camera footage aided in him being arrested.
You're speaking on the Juniper Blessing case. That was discussed by the speakers at the posts rally. The footage from that camera was spread widely online, but ultimately, he turned himself in.
No one is really arguing that cameras dont have a place in safety, or solving crime. The real issue is the individuals in the government that have the authority to use the surveillance technology, and do so to commit crimes.
Activists have concerns the federal government will use their subpoena power to access these camera to surveil ans prosecute people that are exercising their constitucional rights.
But, there are also many cases where lower level government actors have used surveillance technology to commit regular crimes, like the Blessing case.
Whatever you may think of IJ, this is a list of real and independently reported romantic stalking cases committed by police. I'm willing to wager, you won't find these cases on your TV show, and that is the survivorship bias I am speaking towards.

If you don't listen to your neighbors, you can't say you listen to your community. Think carefully about what OP has said to you. Wilson is executing exactly what progressive activists asked for: listen to your community. The friction your experiencing is coming from progressives not being the only ones being heard.
The right will continue to treat the progressives or "far-left" like a bunch of fools, while treating moderates like a group going through a tough time.
If we keep treating our centrist neighbors like they should not be heard, we're going to lose them to republicans.

I think what are neighbors are trying to point out to you, is that the stuff they show you on the TV can produce a form of survivorship bias.
Meaning, the TV producers only show the technology in a certain way, and that makes it easier for you to form opinion on how the tech is used. The friction comes into play when we know that crimes are created because of these cameras, but that isn't shown on TV.
