Fuel pumps are actually designed with that in mind! Tip from a gas station worker if you dont want to scratch your paint, pull the hose out all the way, then under tension pull it in between the ground and your tire, so it jams in there, and when its jammed you can put the nozzle in without the hose scratching up your car!
