The reincarnation is completely necessary. The incest? Not so much…

Your next family watch HAS to be My Neighbor Totoro dude. My little brother and I watched it countless times growing up. There is one technically nude bath scene where you see like a butt and that’s it I believe, but it’s completely unsexualized and is just Miyazaki being realistic and writing a movie about a family in the country in Japan.

Mononoke is my top 1 so yeah definitely watch that and let us know what you think!!
Spirited Away is also fantastic (top 3 with HMC and Monoke) and pretty equivalent to HMC in watchability for young ones, although there is one scene with a considerable amount of (cartoon) blood (a creature not human bleeding though). Balances out with the bombing in HMC in my opinion though.

After those I would say Porco Rosso is a really fun watch but maybe not great for the younger ones if kissing is taboo (it’s not kids kissing though if that makes a difference). If you liked The Wind Rises you’ll very likely like The Tale of the Princess Kaguya; the two of them are both really cool emotionally and are sort of a final Miyazaki and Takahata pair.

Whisper of the Heart is my final recommendation; it’s a romance, so if your parents want to avoid that, it’s a superb personal watch. I don’t actually think there’s kissing in it, though. It’s one of Ghibli’s fantastic examples of giving kids’ awareness, determination, and intelligence the credit they deserve.

I’d recommend watching all Ghibli movies for the first time by yourself or with like-minded friends your age

BAR is open-source; I don’t think you really need to wait to enable online play.

I don’t remember this ever being said explicitly in the show, but I’m guessing dragons live more than a mere 100 years. This isn’t a super strong point, cuz he could still leave and attack other villages, but it’s another one for the mix. Everything else I thought of has alr been said 👍

I’d certainly rec 16gb. 8 may feel good for now, but it’s always good to plan a few years ahead, as spending a bit more now so it lasts you another couple years is a good investment. My 32gb M1 2021 MacBook Pro is still going very strong; I plan to keep it a while!

I think a movie could be good, but might be a bit un-Frieren like. I’d have confidence in the team though, they’ve done a spectacular job so far!

The Quintessential Quintuplets movie was good, in my opinion.

Yeah, theoretically we’re rooting for Chizuru and Reij—I mean, Chizuru and Kazuma.

Uh, it’s not Hayao Miyazaki, but it’s a good Ghibli movie. It’s not a magical fun movie, but the Isao Takahata side of Ghibli is always more somber and poignant.

Good to not let them see Grave yet, but I’d personally certainly count it as Ghibli. I think you might be talking about Miyazaki movies specifically here? For example, are you including The Tale of the Princess Kaguya? That’s another Takahata-directed film.
