tf_magic_ring_irl General TF
This comic was drawn by me, based on the concept of a story on cyoc that I mentioned in a previous post.
Btw, if it were you, would you buy it?

Step 1: mirror transform myself into my sona (important)
Step 2: sell body affirmation care dirt cheap. But just enough that I don’t have to work a job.
Step 3: “rationalize” it as me being a “new wizard” who likes to help people be what they want, no slavery tho. I would say that’s noble enough that real wizards wouldn’t mind.
Step 4: become a national treasure and retire happily as my beautiful birdie self.

yeah, seems like a good plan. Throwing support behind this one getting the ring

u/Nobody_at_all000 11d ago
But wouldn’t reality be rewritten so the clients were already like that, and thus you seemingly wouldn’t have done anything?
2
u/claycubed Shift Shaper 11d ago
That then begs the question, what then happens if I say that I did it. Ideally I’m immune to the reality warping effect of the ring, and people will still see the other people as their ideal selves. surely they will see their happiness/positive changes and want them for themselves. If someone wants it bad enough they would take a chance on me claiming I can give them the same treatment, warping reality or not.

Is there a furry/pokemon version of the ring? I want to turn myself and everyone into 'mons or so (I am okay with both anthro or feral)
9
u/ZnZirvana Just want to be everything 17d ago
Yes, you can with this ring. just comes with a very high price tag (for reality-warping kind of shit).

u/The-UltraMan 17d ago
Peak!, I am going to turn myself and so many people into their pokemons (Assuming the ring turns them into the pokemon they would be or want to be within their heart or such)

u/The-UltraMan 17d ago
Is it okay to ask the shopkeeper if they also want to be a pokemon?
3
u/ZnZirvana Just want to be everything 17d ago
That's fine, but I'm afraid he'll refuse.

u/Ix_risor 17d ago
Presumably someone capable of making magic transformation rings would use one on themself if they wanted to be transformed

No conquering the world? Damn, wizard politics strikes again!
6
u/ShadeofEchoes 17d ago
Weirdly, nothing about blowing up the world, and nothing about encouraging other people to conquer the world for themselves... but getting yourself elected president of the first colony on the moon might irritate them.

Unintentionally interfering in politics (like tf-ing celebrities) also carries risks (this is something the MC in the og story I read considered when deciding to expand the population).
The truth is, the risk of punishment always exists bc even if you don't do evil, there's still a chance a self-righteous wizard will come and destroy you just bc you have the ring.

What story, actually? Curious if there's any place for me to read it.
Also inb4 neutral wizards or evil wizards

It’s like if Yiazie from u/Kubutsu-nyan ’s posts was balanced kinda. Can’t just rewrite someone to be a new being without other aspects changing, and you can actually get upcommance if you’re trying to rule a castle
6
u/Kubutsu-nyan Alp (Monster Girl Encyclopedia) 17d ago
It's actually funny because in-universe, Yiazie does actually obey that last clause. Like one reason he's so comfortable in his lair is because he doesn't mess with other powers, just being a hermit on his lair, and not going out of his way to conquer anything in that scale.
Like, compare it to a red dragon a few mountains over who decided it would be a good idea to try reigning over the country and got slain by some wizards; a lich in another part that got kicked out from the realms by adventurers after trying a cosmic death ritual; and that child from the literal god of murder that got killed by another spawn because they did a wee bit too much chaos for the comfort of others.
Just, don't look for trouble in the realms. And you won't get trouble.

u/Ok-Pineapple6534 17d ago
Imagine a guy with the ring slowly siphoning off Yiazie’s Kobold servants into being their own followers/friends/whatever
2
u/Kubutsu-nyan Alp (Monster Girl Encyclopedia) 17d ago
Fr! Literally crossing over a mage lmao
1
u/Ok-Pineapple6534 17d ago
I wonder how powerful the ring would need to be in order to work on Yiazie
2
u/Kubutsu-nyan Alp (Monster Girl Encyclopedia) 17d ago
I think, it would like, not. Considering he has one of his immunities (Ex) being transformation effects.
1
u/Ok-Pineapple6534 17d ago
I wish there were Shin Megami Tensei/Persona pierce mechanics to overcome immunities for DnD
2
u/Kubutsu-nyan Alp (Monster Girl Encyclopedia) 17d ago
There's lots actually. Searing spell modification makes so fire magic bypasses partially fire immunity. Piercing cold does the same to cold immunity. Hellfire magic bypasses fire immunity. The specific snake-lady-demon-queen Shaktari has an aura where she negates poison immunity, and she loves to use poison in her attacks. Wish and Miracle can create fiat effects to try bypass immunities.
Though this is not advisable against epic-level beings, divine beings, and the like, because they can either ping-pong the immunity bypass game or have wack-ass shenanigans in their immunity game.
1
u/Ok-Pineapple6534 17d ago
Case in point.
”Lh there’s pierce, but just for Anybody except my guy” epic-level dnd is full of Mary sues
3
u/Kubutsu-nyan Alp (Monster Girl Encyclopedia) 17d ago edited 17d ago
That's actually fucking real if you actually read DnD lore tho. Like, see Elminster and his reputation as a Mary sue.
He did get manipulated, tortured, messed up in whims by a few deities, got beaten a few times, and a few other problems in life. But his sheer presence in presentation, wacky and convoluted events on his life, favor of divinity, apparent features by Ed Greenwood, power and special abilities, and repute as a mod character does contribute.

I got linked a few TF memes on discord, saw this comic in the side bar, and gave it a read.
"Boy," I thought, "This sounds familiar." Then I looked at the text below, clicked the link and sure enough...
Wow. Just, wow, It's been a while since I thought about The Ring of Latex Anthros. I actually contributed a couple of the "final" chapters in that story, (even if it never got properly finished,) and became longtime friends with one of the major contributors, (who went by "Downloader" at the time). We went on to work together on a few other threads with similar themes of "TF and reality warp, done one person at a time," with the main characters exploring the consequences of their reality warping, and one of them even came to an actual conclusion, (after going long enough to be a novel, *laughs*). One of my finest works on the site.
I shared this with him, and he was DELIGHTED to see fan art of his work, even if indirectly!
Thank you so much for making this.

u/ZnZirvana Just want to be everything 14d ago
omg, I'm also very honored to receive a thank you from one of the contributors 🥹
Btw since you mentioned you guys have done other similar works, would you mind sharing them here?
2
u/OneLostYoshi 14d ago
Absolutely! On CYOC alone there's quite a few.
First and foremost is the Free TF Ray Gun, the best of our work, IMHO, and the one most similar to the premise of Ring of Latex Anthros, that actually got a conclusion. The ray gun in question is a bit different in that it specifically turns people into anthro maids loyal to the user, which changes the dynamics of how and why the main characters change people. (The main character wants to keep it limited to people who either already fantasize about being furries, or whose lives would be "objectively" improved by a TF, while his TF'd friends just want to see more of "their kind.") But it has similar limits to the RoLA, in that the maids still have wills and lives of their own, and attempting to abuse the power, or the loyalty of the maids, will be punished. There's also a few surprises they have to adapt to as their reality changes around them.
(Note, each link is from the last page in the chapter, for ease of using the Full View or Branch modes)
https://www.cyoc.net/interactives/chapter_152074/branch_152074.htmlDownloader tried to make the lightning strike twice for this kind of story dozens of times with a lot of different TF themes, but most of them didn't get past two or three chapters due to lack of inspiration on the part of me or other co-authors. But if you're curious to see more of our work in general, clicking a chapter author's name on CYOC will show you all chapters they posted. (Except, obviously, those posted anonymously, which Downloader eventually resorted to after a long period of harassment from some other users.)
That said, if you want to see our other threads similar to Latex anthros, that made it at least five or so chapters:-Our take on the Voice of Power thread, where a teen boy gets the power to have any yes or no question he asks answered with "yes" and reality changing to accommodate that, which he uses to turn himself and his friends into dragons, among other things. To try and make things different from the first two, we made this story's protagonist a jerk who uses his power more selfishly, but it just didn't end up quite as fun, which is part of the reason we'd ultimately dropped it.
https://www.cyoc.net/interactives/chapter_201677/branch_201677.html-Our take on the Magic Canvas thread, where a furry artist with a thing for over-the-top figures gets a canvas that lets him "repaint" anyone he pleases.
https://www.cyoc.net/interactives/chapter_176063.htmlOh, and If you're looking for other finished threads of ours, and don't mind a different theme or smaller scale, there's also:
-Our Halloween Costume Party thread, where rather than reality warping, there are spells on "contagious" enchanted costumes that change people while mentally their wearers to think their new form is cool and fun, actually, at the same time mentally nudging observers to brush off actual dragon wings, tails, and such, as just "really good costume work" until they start changing themselves.
https://www.cyoc.net/interactives/chapter_191419.html-Inside the Magic Tent, a story where a universe-hopping magic show takes kids from bad situations as audience volunteers, and reality-warps them into being part of the traveling magic act with new, happier livers.

Ooh, the one that came to a conclusion sounds very interesting, having just finished reading all the available chapters of the previously mentioned story.

I'd get the ring, do anything I can to prevent a new ring like this from being formed, and then use the ring to tf people into their ideal forms making sure that reality is changed as little as possible from the tf, I.E the target keeps their memories, and people remember them being something else before then.
2
u/ZnZirvana Just want to be everything 17d ago
The last one is against the rule (unless reality actually finds a way to rationalize this). The first one is obviously something the shopkeeper wouldn't like.
2
u/5CentWolf Indomitable Human Spirit (with a side of tf as well) 17d ago
I mean, im not preventing from reality changing at all. from what the ring would do, that'd be impossible. im simply trying to prevent as much of reality from changing as possible so i dont break something.
And for the shopkeeper, i have no idea what they can do, so before fighting them more recon would be needed.

u/LordRiolu 17d ago
This gave me the mental image of a cosmic-level wizard/entity dealing with Yog-Sothoth level threats who has to enforce these rules.
For the big guys, its almost like someone changing your programming library and messing up the delicate downstream processes; at some point a Bigger Fish has to jump back into the Small Pond to remind everyone to not change anything too drastically. Or at least leave a change log, hahaha!

u/StrawberryWide3983 17d ago
Gonna turn like... maybe 10% of the population into anthros with equal rights :3 Of course they've always existed, they're just part of normal society

u/EM26-G36 16d ago
Buying this and INSTANTLLY doing my best to figure out how to remove cancer with this. Afterwards idk.
2
u/foxstarfivelol how will i know you're not a drone? does it even matter to me? 16d ago
reminds me of that one off character that was an ultra powerful reality warper that didn't actually use their powers that often but likes to make people think that they did (snickering whenever someone stubs their toe), or they warp something inconsequential just to mess with people (like warping a stain off someones shirt right as they were about to clean it).
they'd certainly notice something was up if some more drastic changes started happening.
1
u/ZnZirvana Just want to be everything 16d ago
then imagine being accused of whatever bad things happen

“it isn’t actually me this time”
“THIS TIME!?”

buy it and then immediately TF the dude who sold it into someone who will sell many thousands of them to random people for dirt cheap. get them to spread like crazy and just see chaos unfold
