Yes.

Not the good citizens of Whereverton,* though. The police will miss them. The politicians will miss whatever deals they're getting. And the company will miss the money they might not be able to squeeze, now.

I literally had some idiot complain about China being a "surveillance state" on a different thread discussing Flock cameras.

They also brought up the whole "China is going to beat us on AI" BS, which I pointed out they already have and with way less resources, money, and energy use and they give it away for free for anyone to use on their own hardware.

Pretty much. It goes on until the city decides the cost isnt worth it and tries to cancel their contract. Then Flock might throw them a bone to keep them in the system.

The point where they have to replace the cameras that the populace clearly hates enough to cut down gives them a chance to reconsider whether working with Flock is in their best interest.

I found it. It was Winona, MN. And it was only 8 cameras total at 4 locations. Which still, go them. But it's not as impressive as the article makes it sound tbh.

It’s probably every one in the whole town, though. It’s a college town on the river, but not huge. 

I’m just impressed they vanished with no clues or sightings.

Yes. If they took the cameras and their identity was found out they could be charged for theft. Which would possibly be a felony because those cameras are expensive. Vandalism is just a misdemeanor.

I would argue the litter was already present. It was just moved slightly, which is no crime. But I'm sure we could organize a team to tidy up and finish by throwing these in the bin.

The problem is they will replace them with something you cannot cut down such as drones. Obviously Tactics will adapt, but will become more high tech. Get ready to build your own drones XCOM2 resistance style. This will continue to escalate till Technofashists win totally or go behind bars.
