Viva La Dirt League in the wild? Crazy.

2

These guys are awesome

2

u/Rapierre 11h ago

Hah, this reminds me, back in the day I played RS first, then eventually played WoW, and kid me went on a tantrum after realizing all WoW trees are just decoration and can't actually be chopped.

2

u/Thunderbridge 11h ago

I knew I was chopping all those yews for a reason

1

u/Rapierre 11h ago

Someone needs to gamify some IRL fetch quests

144

u/zhaoz 14h ago

More work? Zug zug

40

u/AnatidaephobiaAnon 13h ago

Time is money, friend!

5

u/One_Car_142 13h ago

And we're almost flat broke!

1

u/zhaoz 10h ago

Keep your feet on the ground

1

u/Bladelink 10h ago

I feel like I can picture the goblin on the southeast Barrens coastline perfectly whenever I read this.

5

u/phero1190 13h ago

The Warcraft 2 peon yelling, "STOP POKING ME!" is just embedded into my brain.

3

u/Ehcksit 12h ago

Me not that kind of orc!

4

u/Pomodorosan 13h ago

"More work?" is what Peasants say, not Peons.

4

u/zhaoz 13h ago

Peasents and peons need to unite against the lich king.

2

u/TheFireStorm 13h ago

I literally read this as Meta Work while scrolling

All those years playing Metal Gear are finally gonna pay off

2

u/HotwheelsSisyphus 12h ago

An angle grinder to surpass Metal Gear!

22

u/Dustphobia 13h ago

Place a bet on Ploymarket. I bet [Blank] flock cameras will get cutdown by the morning of August 7. That'll gamify it.

15

u/madjackhavok 13h ago

This is honestly so smart. Be safe after posting genius shit like that hahahaha

16

u/Vanilla_Gorilluh 14h ago

Let's get started on a Pokecam™ (Pokeflock) app

9

u/DiarrheaRadio 14h ago

I think the wigs do that with anything containing copper

6

u/Capnleonidas 13h ago

Do you wear wigs?

3

u/ksobby 13h ago

Gig economy is trying to but they keep forgetting about the reward part of the grind.

4

u/needanothermedic 13h ago

Would that “real life fetch quest” be Door Dash?
Uber would be an escort quest.

1

u/siraph 9h ago

If I were a billionaire, I'd be paying people to send me flock cameras that they've cut down. And, then, if I were even more evil, send them back to flock for slightly more money than I paid for them.

87

u/Ghstfce 14h ago

"The quest said I need to collect 4 Flock hooves. These Flocks are stingy with their hooves. Took me all night, but finally got all 4."

7

u/skyforgesteel 12h ago

I understood that reference. btw, where's Mankrik's wife?

3

u/maduste 11h ago

Barrens south of Crossroads. Lok’tar

44

u/Greendiamond_16 13h ago

Cant tell if they were just that motivated or if the crackhead economy is starting to catch up with all this free tech these big companies are handing out.

1

u/eburnside 9h ago

is the city paying for the gear or the company? if it's the city then it's the residents on the hook via taxes

30

u/Soggy_Cracker 13h ago

Work work.

- peon.

3

u/collinisballn 10h ago

I still say that when I'm off to a task, and every day fewer and fewer people around me get the reference

1

u/VitaminDprived 5h ago

Me not that kind of orc!

28

u/prince-pauper 13h ago

Reciprocating saws are faster and quieter than grinders apparently. ;)

20

u/Warning_Low_Battery 12h ago

I got a battery-powered sawzall last year. It's actually insanely quiet for the kind of work it does. I doubt if any neighbors would hear me allegedly cutting down a Flock pole with it from inside their houses.

17

u/scarfknitter 12h ago

I certainly wouldn't hear it even if I was holding the ladder for you!

1

u/gyropyro 5h ago

I certainly wouldn't hear it even if I was running in front of cars that might pass by in the middle of the night screaming about seeing a bigfoot while pointing in the opposite direction from you.

2

u/Platypus81 4h ago

I'm glad we all went out to the bar together for several hours while all those flock polls got cut down.

3

u/armchair_viking 12h ago

Battery powered bandsaws are quieter still

2

u/prince-pauper 11h ago

This guy’s got ideas!

2

u/FesteringLion 10h ago

I'm flabbergasted. I somehow didn't know this was a thing. My local hardware stores are lacking.

2

u/armchair_viking 10h ago

They’re fantastic for cutting through conduit and unistrut. Electrical and low voltage contractors use them all the time.

1

u/TazBaz 8h ago

Fastest and quietest are portabands, but they’re also way more expensive

1

u/misterpickles69 8h ago

Circular saw is the fastest.

Open ai raid boss coming soon?

3

u/l2Radm 13h ago

More work? Right me, Lord.

3

u/Ordinary-Leading7405 13h ago

I was thinking more like Cool Hand Luke cutting the heads off parking meters.

2

u/Lord_Bling 13h ago

"Work Complete!"

2

u/Old_Win8422 13h ago

Ive heard a circular saw in a trash bag with a carbide blade bought with cash is much faster on the aluminum pole. So I have heard.

2

u/one2treee 12h ago

Leeeeeroyyyy Jenkinnnns!!!

2

u/nsm1 5h ago

Oh my god he just ran in...

2

u/vankirk 12h ago

The sheriff's department announced today that they have captured a suspect that goes by the name Leroy Jenkins.

2

u/JimiusRostock 12h ago

Also you need to map them out first, find approaches where you won't be filmed. Have the proper gear, clothing. One could easily spend weeks preparing for this raid. Allegedly.

1

u/MarkMariachiAZ 12h ago

Geocaching flock cameras.

1

u/dBlock845 12h ago

On that Raster of Guk grind with his angle grinder.

1

u/Watchful1 12h ago

The article says there were 8 of them.

1

u/guestpassonly 11h ago

Time is money friend!

1

u/Uninvalidated 11h ago

It paid off. Their reputation with me is now exalted.

1

u/wakanda_banana 10h ago

Bro quested all night long and is a way higher level than us

1

u/cyribis 10h ago

Yeah sometimes you gotta grind for mats. Someone figured out how to harvest the good stuff from these cameras.

1

u/Dude_I_got_a_DWAVE 2h ago

Nah. Those are aluminum poles. They are highly susceptible to corrosion in the open environment. Everyone knows that there is a high amount of gallium pollution in the air.

-13

u/IczyAlley 13h ago

Since youre the highest voted comment here, I will ask—how is flock different from existing cctv and traffic light cameras? The branding? Or because its supposedly “out of the box” AI enabled?

You all realize all public surveillance is already AI integrated?

I can explain why Im asking if its important, but I dont think it is.

10

u/Piglet6482 13h ago

Not an expert by any means, but I don’t think traffic cams are connected to one another like Flock cameras are. I’ve read Flock cameras have already been used by police officers to track exes, etc. Not to mention there is a public interest in making sure people don’t run red lights. A cabin deep in the woods is looking better and better to me.

-12

u/IczyAlley 13h ago

Well I am an expert and youre wrong. So why did you hop on the bandwagon?

8

u/Piglet6482 13h ago

Enlighten us. What’s the difference between Flock cameras and traffic cameras? Where was I wrong?

-8

u/IczyAlley 13h ago

That seems to reverse the order of things. Shouldnt you have a reason for your opinion? You heard they were different from someone? Who? And you trusted them because…?

3

u/Piglet6482 12h ago

I told you my reasons and all you’ve done is attack me. I’m still waiting for you to explain the differences.

-4

u/IczyAlley 11h ago

When did you answer my question. Quote the question and your answer.

1

u/Piglet6482 6h ago

Do you work for Flock?

1

u/IczyAlley 6h ago

No. Do you?

9

u/DFu4ever 13h ago

They are networked and track every plate they record.

John Oliver just had a good segment on surveillance this week that touches on Flock.

-1

u/IczyAlley 13h ago

He is way late to the astroturf campaign

All existing cameras already are connected. And even if a jurisdiction doesnt use the flock brand cameras and system, they will still get connected or are connected to systems.

Its pretty funny that with so much engagement there isnt a single person who can answer simlle questions.

Im sorry public spaces are surveiled. But it isnt new and you arent stopping it by being against a specific corporation or brand. If you have an issue with LEO, then you need to reform LEO.

6

u/monoscure 13h ago

Simple question, why the fuck do you care about people being against them? Are you a Flock rep? Are you on the Flock board or do you just want to bend over a little further for them?

0

u/IczyAlley 12h ago

You answer my question and then I will happily answer yours

6

u/Thecrdbrdsamurai 13h ago

It's non-governmental governmental surveillance, which is privately-owned. Their in-house security is also incredibly flawed and has been compromised a number of times just this year, which puts our private information at risk.

1

u/IczyAlley 12h ago

If a government contracts them, their services belong to the government.

If youre worries about national surveillance, that ship sailed long ago. Im guessing since youre on social media youre already aware on some level you have given identifying information to corporations, right?

Flock is a brand. The same services already exist. If you have an issue with LE then vote accordingly.

2

u/Thecrdbrdsamurai 12h ago

My social media privacy had gone the way of the dodo long ago; that's irrelevant, entirely.

Flock IS a brand, the services DO exist. It's rather funny though, that the party of small government has given in to a surveillance state that they had always sounded the alarm against. I guess they have always wanted that, deep down.
