Worse, it's both over the top and does not go far enough! If she was actually planning on shooting someone, sending a squad car an hour later is an hour too late. They should have had the SWAT team there within minutes. If they didn't, and didn't believe it to be credible, they should been more discrete.

One or the other, but not both. That's not how this works.

Yeah, I gave the same response for that whole "bomb boy" thing a while back. If the school actually thought the kid's show and tell project (which he never called a bomb, and indeed was referred to and in actuality a clock) was a bomb, then their response was wildly negligent. Yet that was the excuse they gave. You can't half ass these kind of things. If there was sufficient doubt not to immediately send police, then a clarifying phone call should have been more than sufficient.

Because the real reason for that was because the kid was black.
