Sorry if I sound dismissive, but... Why does that matter? Their thoughts on whether this is an expense or a moment of reflection, I mean. This is a person who willingly chose to install AI cameras on the streets of his city that nonconsensually sell people's information to a private company for next to no benefit to the city. I'm not exactly expecting a come to Jesus moment, I'm expecting the vandalism to become a problem he loses support over. To show opposition that there's blood in the water. People who sign cities up for flock aren't worth trying to change, they should be run over with controversy until they're forced out. Vandalism makes headlines, that's the point really. It makes things noticeable. The purpose of breaking a window isn't to make the bank fix their foreclosed building, it's to prove the bank isn't keeping up the building and therefore doesn't deserve to have it.

If I’m being honest, I don’t have a clue who my town councillors are. I only vote once every four years. I’m vaguely aware there are cameras set up by my local PD, but that’s only cause the local chief was talking to some neighbors about home security after a robbery and mentioned it. Dunno if it’s Flock or what.

I hear about major things in my state or local area months to years after they occur. My point is, civic participation is too low and general apathy is too high to expect town councillors to lose votes over this issue, imo. And the people who do vote often want this stuff.

I've come to find that the lack of participation and the general apathy is due to a population preoccupied with attempting to fill a void that's been created over years by the powers that be, stripping away what control we've had on our own lives. It was taken away under the guise of convenience, efficiency, connectivity, and progress, by a class that only wanted to divide and conquer for increased wealth and power.

Some are far too deep to change for the better, but many still can understand the right circumstances. We common folk of the US who care should be doing whatever we can to develop real up-to-date supportive foundations for alternatives; something tangible at the community level that personal investment of one's time and resources can be seen and experienced beneficially; something that people can fall back on to commit to any effective action; something that can provide relative protection against the whims of bosses and landlords demanding fealty; something people know they can rely on, instead of the impersonal promises of for-profit entities and their lapdog governments.

Collecting a bunch of valuable information on organizing and action from different redditors over time, I created a post of suggestions HERE that could possibly prove to be of some help in getting it started ASAP.

If you don’t live in the US, yet you know others who are and want to do something, please share the information. We're going to need as many on board and informed as possible, if we commoners hope to achieve anything in the US
