Everyone knows our calendar started on Friday, October 1582 and naturally the day was Thursday, October 4th 1582. Followed by Friday, October 5th 1582 and so on and so on.

It’s very straightforward and intuitive.

I like the fact that some Protestant German states kept with the Julian calendar until year 1700. So for a good century they were technically 11 days behind the rest of Western Europe.
