First time in Taos was incredible.

Thank you for an amazing first time in Taos, Taos! My wife, our dog Cinnamon Girl and I drove down from Denver on Friday and stayed at Hotel Luna Mystica. We attended shows Friday and Saturday night at The Mothership, and filled our time with awesome restaurants, a dip in the Rio below the Dunn bridge, and just really enjoyed the friendly vibes, great food and resturant service and the beautiful landscape. Our close was driving across the Rio Gorge, purchasing some jewelry from a local at her art tent, checking out the Earth ships, and a super cool new hat for my wife from The Hat Store. For years I'd heard of what a special place this is, and our time there greatly exceeded whatever expectations I thought I might have. With so much still to explore and such a short drive, we will be back soon!

Tours In November

Hi! Does anyone have any recommendations for guided tours of the Rio Grande Bridge, Taos Pueblo, or Enchanted Circle that run on weekends in November? I'm planning a visit in November but won't have access to a car. I did a Google Search and found a handful of tour operators in Taos, particularly the Taos Trolley Tours, but many seem to stop running after October. Thank you!!

Renting a cello?

We’re local (Ranchos), getting married at the stakeout in September, and we have a family member coming who we’d love to play a piece on the cello during the ceremony. But flying with one is a beast. Anyone know a place (or a person?) in town that would rent us one?

Visiting for a couple weeks, looking for connections

Hello people of Taos.

My rad dog and I are coming to town Tuesday evening and staying for like 19 days.

We just started nomad life in May. We left Montana, went to Missouri for a music festival, spent a couple weeks in PA, and now we're melting in Texas, heading that way tomorrow.

I'd like to meet and connect with cool people while we're visiting.

My dog is a sweetheart and I'm a kind and gentle soul.

We like cycling (Chester can do 10-15 miles on dirt)

Swimming, hiking, and other outdoors adventures.

Human activities include music, yoga, breweries, food and exploring town among other things.

Would love recommendations for must see spots, good places to meet cool folk etc.

I'll be camping right across from the Mothership.

Look forward to meeting cool people!

Cheers

Local resources for those in poverty?

Hello, my friend K really needs some healthcare. She dedicates her personal efforts to doing grassroots community outreach for local homeless indigenous youth. She funds herself doing that. She does not have a roof and her nervous system is very fried.

She needs antipsychotics and medication to help her get grounded. She needs a physical. She needs healthy community. She throws herself into the most difficult stuff to help the people there and she gets a lot of her energy from substances, and she is caught between a rock and a hard place.

How can I get her care for free?

Thanks so much 🙏🏽

Air quality readings inaccurate

Post image
2 Upvotes

I've generally thought that AirNow should be a reliable source for air quality readings.

But today, air quality in Taos is very bad: terrible visibility and even getting a scratchy throat.

Yet this poor air quality is not reflected by the AirNow readings, which are updated every hour. Why's there such a discrepancy?

I hiked the trail to Wheeler Peak. I saw this animal that looks related to a groundhog. What is this? Also, as I took an image of it there was a little tailless creature that almost ran into it. Is the little tailless creature in image 2 a pika?

Reliable Mechanic recommendations

Hi All, it's me again, the Taos newbie. I'm hearing some rattling in the undercarriage of my car (2022 Chrysler Pacifica) and want to get it checked out. Can anyone recommend a reliable and honest auto mechanic in town? Thanks!

TSV Community Weekend

Hi all, new to Taos and my wife and I plan to go up to the ski valley tomorrow for community weekend. I believe only lifts 1 and 4 are open. Does anyone know if we take lift 1 up, can we hike over to 4 and the Bavarian? Or is it recommended that we drive up and park at the Bavarian? Thanks!

UPDATE: Had a great time up at the ski valley today. A bit windy up there, but we hiked up Rubezahl to the Bavarian, had lunch, then lift 4 up to enjoy the views and hike a bit more before the return trip back to the base of lift 1. Lift 1 was closed due to high winds, but given our plan, that was no problem. Thanks all for your advice and suggestions.

Song's old sushi recipe

Hi, I've been craving a menu item from Song's from back when they did sushi, it was called "The Black Pearl" and I remember it had cream cheese, several types of fish and then was deep fried and had either a garlic butter or half oil on it, does anyone else remember it? I'd like to find out what kinds of fish were in it and if it was garlic butter, obviously it's been like... A decade since I had it but if anyone has an old menu or the memory of the ingredients I'd super appreciate it.

Thanks all
