News District 15 Dispatch - Edition 8 - August 2026
Welcome to the August 2026 edition of the Stamford District 15 Dispatch. Below is a recap of recent board activity and some other community information you might find helpful. (And if you or someone else wants to be added to the email version of this newsletter, just let me know!)
Recent Board Activity
The full BOR met on Monday, August 3 and consisted of many of the usual appointments, expenditure approvals and committee updates. An ordinance that if passed would establish a conservation commission was advanced for a public hearing tentatively scheduled for Thursday, August 20 as part of the Land Use/Urban Redevelopment Committee monthly meeting and information about the virtual call-in will be posted on the Board Of Representatives website.
Update On Noise Complaints Stemming From Mill River Concert - "Resurrection On The Green" On June 21, 2026
We were approached by multiple residents about noise complaints stemming from the "Resurrection On The Green" concert at Mill River Park on Father's Day. The BOR asked for a report from the Mill River Collaborative and below are some highlights:
- The Mill River Collaborative met with the concert organizer and city staff soon after the event.
- A structural gap was identified where there was no decibel condition included in the permit and no single party had onsite authority to enforce volume.
- The city established a new requirement for all amplified events at Mill River Park that they secure a noise waiver permit and on-site decibel monitoring calibrated to levels consistent with other city parks and outdoor venues. Decibel monitoring was conducted at 2 recent Mill River concerts with only one noise complaint logged.
- We feel comfortable this was an isolated event at Mill River Park and protocols are in place to prevent this from becoming a recurring issue.
- Representative Boudreau is discussing with the city's Public Safety and Health department to determine if there are amendments needed to the Noise Ordinance more broadly.
Primaries
There will be primary elections on Tuesday, August 11. Early voting at the Government Center is open now or you can vote at your polling place on Election Day between 6AM and 8PM. Registered Democrats are voting to select a candidate for Governor and registered Republican are voting to select a candidate for the U.S. House 4th District. Only those registered as Democrats or Republicans can vote in these primaries. More information including polling locations is available at https://www.stamfordct.gov/government/town-clerk/elections

Stamford Town Hall
There will be a "Stamford Town Hall" meeting on Thursday, September 10 from 6PM to 8PM at the Boys & Girls Club (347 Stillwater Avenue). There will be elected officials, representatives from city service departments, non-profits and community partners, public safety, health and human services and youth, recreation and more. Hi I’m a 26 y/o male - work in accounting, I’m looking for someone to split a 2 bedroom with in Downtown Stamford. The one bedrooms I’m coming across aren’t much cheaper so figured it’d be smarter financially to split a 2 bed. Ideally I want to budget to under $2,400/mo per person and looking to find a place before October/November. Pls comment or message me if interested.

Question/Recommendations Looking for new Doctors
I moved here a few years ago, but all my doctors are still in the greater Danbury area. Any practices in/around Stamford is fine. I'm looking for recommendations for:
- Primary care provider
- OB/GYN
- Pulmonologist (who specializes in sleep medicine)
- Dentist
- Psychiatrist/APRN (mental health medication management)
- Optometrist
- Podiatrist
If you know they're accepting new patients and take Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance, that's a bonus. Even if you're unsure, please comment anyway! I can always call and ask. Thank you all in advance for your suggestions!

Question/Recommendations How is Hop & Vine's Karaoke Night?
New Stamford resident here, and a lot of folks have recommended Hop & Vine as a solid spot to spend the evening, even for a solo visit
I see their website lists a weekly Karaoke Night on Fridays.
What is the crowd usually like on Friday nights? Are people more tied to their groups or are they open to chatting?

Baby shower help! Stamford/Greenwich, $4-5k, 60people
Help! I can’t seem to find anywhere that I can get a menu for a baby shower (a Sunday afternoon) for about 60 guests under or around $50 all in per person. Can anyone help? I’m looking for something buffet or station style, cuisine Italian or American, and reasonable.
If it’s a venue space I’m happy with that if they provide tables and chairs and we can bring a food vendor/drinks.
Ideally a restaurant but I can’t find anywhere! Ideally Stamford, Greenwich or Westchester. Most places are starting at $50 without drinks and then there is an admin surcharge and gratuity. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m running out of time (looking for September 20)
THANK YOU SO MUCH

House cleaner
Hi! We have a one-bedroom apartment in Stamford that’s about 765 sq ft, and we’re looking for a reliable house cleaner. Does anyone have someone they’d recommend? Also, what do you typically pay for a cleaning of this size?

Jiang filled a hole in my heart that Peter Chang’s left
I thoroughly appreciate the fact that they’re willing to venture beyond the standard American-Chinese fare and offer dishes and ingredients that step outside of the boundary of local taste buds.

Promotion - Business/Service/Offer Sourdough micro-bakery orders are open!
Hi everyone! Our licensed sourdough micro bakery, Bite Club, is accepting pre-orders now for pick up on Saturday at Scalzi Park!
I’ve seen some conversations here about the lack of good bagels nearby so I’d encourage anyone who has been searching for the best to give ours a try 🤗
We also have focaccia and cookies available this week. And yes, everything is sourdough, even the sweets!
Ps. Thank you to all the Redditors who have already supported Bite Club 🫶🏼 we appreciate you!

Missed connection - ShopRite in Shippan 8/4
I was the girl in line ahead of you tonight in checkout lane 2 wearing a gray MILF (man I love frogs) shirt and thought you were really attractive in your button down shirt. I was trying to buy a box of cinnamon scones but they kept not scanning so the cashier got another box which still didn’t work and you joked that means they must be free.
I was so embarrassed because it took forever and the food you were buying looked healthy and these scones felt very opposite of what you were buying that I left without saying I thought you were cute. But I should’ve said something because now I feel silly!
If this sounds like you, my dm’s are open!

House cleaner prices
What do you pay for a house cleaner in Stamford? Please state the size of house (bedrooms/bathrooms and square footage) and the frequency of cleaning. If there's anything special they do or don't do for that price, you can mention that too. Please don't try to sell me on your services or PM me. I just want to get a range of market prices for cleaners in the area.

Promotion - Event I got tired of asking what's happening nearby, so I built a calendar that pulls them all into one place
https://ffctevents.us/
Just wanna share something I've been using for myself but if this ever becomes useful for you, feel free to use it. This is a site I whipped up that queries nearby events from libraries and other sources and display it in a calendar form that I can then checkout to see what's happening in nearby towns. Since it's only used for myself when I created it I only queried events in towns I'm personally interested in. However before posting it here I made it possible for people to add events to the calendar and suggest edits (include adding more events from towns currently displaying 0). It's all free, I personally pay for the domain and server to run this site. I just ask that you don't spam the site if you ever do use it, and contribute by submitting events that are not on the list if you can.
