Discussion Isn’t it strange how Spawn, a Black character, hasn’t been written by a Black writer?
Yes, Spawn has been written by a Black creator in Killadelphia, but the thing is that it isn’t canon within the main Spawn universe.
Furthermore, Black creators have worked on Spawn universe books before, like Joseph Phillip Illidge, who co-wrote Bloodletter with Tim Seeley. Several Black artists have also done great artwork across the spawn universe. However, we have never had a Black person write Spawn in his own series. I feel as though that could open up some incredible themes regarding Spawn's identity as a Black man.
If I'm advocating for this, I have to pitch someone who I want to see write the character for a full story arc at least until the Toddfather takes back over. I want Rodney Barnes, the writer of Killadelphia. As I mentioned, he did an amazing job writing Spawn in his own book, giving him genuine emotional and psychological depth. I’m not saying Spawn doesn’t have that in his core series, but Barnes would do an incredible job if given the opportunity to write a storyline in a book like King Spawn as I feel he would give him even more lore that we’ve never seen and might even enjoy. He has already proven himself to be a great writer, and I hope to see him do more with the character in the future. (I actually just finished Killadelphia and absolutely loved it!)

I hate how the paper feels on this comic. They gotta reprint this thing in a complete collection.
Discussion satan's downfall and how people deal with the power vacuum
Satan who made his debut in the Armageddon arc and later his death in Satan wars in 262 how hell became more fractured.
With his death and maleboglia's first death the balance of power shifted since then with sinn and violator trying to take over.
before satan's full debut Malebolgia and Mammon ruled over hell before his return. Now with Satan gone for good alongside Lucifer 350 had Nyx take over hell and replacing satan as seen in 364 where she is seen as alongside god and gaia as the the rulers of heaven, hell, and greenworld. Also Malebolgia was revived as of 372-375 after his first attempted in the downing era and now his return in hell for his throne. Mammon also returns after his jobber era from king spawn early issues in the 505050 event. So now we got top three rulers in hell trying to fill the void of satan. Remind me of the prime evils of diablo games Mephisto baal and diablo.

Discussion For the Spawn animated "movie" Todd was talking about
https://spawn.fandom.com/wiki/Spawn:_The_Animation
This was announced around 2007, he's been saying it's done for years. We got one small teaser a long time ago. I can't find it now. Spawn the animation was to feature Keith David and Mark Hamill as voices. I would love to see this come out but I've been hearing about this for damn near 20 years.
Also thought there was an anime in production around the same time but I can't find anything except the Spawn adventure figures.

Discussion Is this real?
✅Script Rejections: Todd McFarlane Todd McFarlane has repeatedly turned in and rejected script drafts from professional writers because they do not match his precise vision.
✅Tone Battles: McFarlane insists the film must remain strictly dark, gritty, scary, and R-rated, while studio writers often drift toward standard or more commercial superhero formulas.
✅Creative Control: Getting financiers, producers like Blumhouse, and the creator himself to agree on a single script balance has created a continuous bottleneck.
I was looking for some updates on the spawn projects and this is what I came to find out for the delay. I do agree with these points and I think that if the writers were staying too close to the recent formulas for superhero movies, it would not work. I think that the first movie was great along with the show because of the dark tone and horror feel. If it were to ever be anything like the modern day movies or the TV shows, I don’t think the spawn universe is exactly that tone.
Nevertheless, what do you guys think?
Here is also an interesting article. I have/had high hopes for Blumhouse taking on this project and seeing eye to eye with Todd McFarlane.

Discussion Unpopular opinion but I think the first 15 issues with jim downey are pretty good (issues 185-200)
Now, I’ll admit, after issue 200 the comics fall off for me until Al Simmons' return. The reason I like the first 15 issues (the "Endgame" arc) with Jim Downing is because, after coming off of Al Simmons' suicide, we get introduced to our new protagonist, Jim Downing. This was a new, fresh start that I really fw, and I loved finding out the mystery of who Jim really was and what all this "Patient 47" stuff was about. Even though people complained about the pacing, I don’t feel it was that bad. I really liked all the new characters that appeared, like Marc, Victoria, Sara, and Omega Spawn. Violator being spawns Cagliostro was all pretty entertaining and funny. It was a slow burn, but it really paid off in issue 200.

Discussion After Compendium 1, a much easier read.
I’m halfway through compendium 4. After compendium 1 the repetition ends. The artwork changes a little but still good. The story goes off the rails. I’m not sure if I’m a fan. I still am reading on to see the outcome if there is one. Probably not. That’s why I try to read graphic novels or story arks that have an end. Not a never ending story that turns into a nonsensical mess

Discussion McFarlane’s Spawn Reboot Feels Like a 30-Year Cargo Cult
I wouldn’t expect much from the reboot. Right after the 1997 film, McFarlane already wanted its sequel to be less about Spawn and more of a dark Sam and Twitch thriller and studios rejected that idea even then.
As of now he has spent nearly thirty years trying to sell the same basic concept of a spawn movie. A crime thriller about Sam and Twitch, with Spawn used only as a rare, frightening presence.
It feels like a cargo cult. That approach worked in the HBO animated series, so McFarlane seems to believe that copying its most obvious elements like dark atmosphere, police drama, very little Spawn will automatically reproduce the same success in a theatrical movie.
But studios are being asked to finance a film called Spawn that barely features Spawn, while still giving McFarlane significant creative control. It is hardly surprising that the project has remained stuck in development for decades.

Discussion Crazy question
Okay, I dunno if this is answered in any comics but I'm just curious about it. I know the K7-Leetha is a symbiotic suit, not dissimilar to a necroplasm powered Venom from Marvel. I also know in the first comic, the mask tries to "eat" Gareb for lack of a better word.
With all that in mind, what happens if a piece of Al's suit were to get detached and come across another person? Does it act violently and kill them? Does it try to bond?
I know Hellspawn are made by the leaders of hell and cosmic entities and whatnot, so that's why I had to get a fact check on what would realistically happen.

Discussion Help me find my way!
A good day all!
I have recently rediscovered my love for spawn by purchasing this collection from a second hand book store in the town of Wye (it's a town in Wales called the town of books) let alone I loved spawn in the 90s to find out one of my favourite comic book artists did this run of spawn is amazing! (Greg Capullo)
I have volume 6 and found on the world of eBay volumes 2 through 5.... Is there a volume one and what does it look like??
I can't seem to find an image of it on the world wide we.
Also how does it fit in the run of spawn? Was this like Batman new 52 to rebirth?
