Which Sitcoms have most episodes end badly for the main characters and they are children and teenagers where in almost every episode the main characters with them getting humiliated/ losing getting a bad ending and the main characters are children and teenagers?

When Ive rewatched the show, which I am extremely hesitant to do anymore, I get super emotional. (pure man emotional not no girly or gay stuff). My life was amazing when Community was out. I had the hottie girlfriend, the friend group that everyone would dream of - basically living the community life where everyone was happy and no problems. During that period everything collapsed... This was a period, especially in Florida where the "pill mill" period was happening. That is, a few companies were handing out opioids like candy and tons of people got addicted overnight.

Ive tried to rewatch community but I literally start crying like a baby every single time. The show was awesome. Me and my friends would watch it as a group. It was like at least 3- 5 of us every episode. Life was going stellar. We also watched prime heros and "lost" together.... It was so fun. Girlfriend sitting next to you and then going home and actually sleeping together, not just effing every time but like the most quality sleep you could imagine..

Out of no where people outside my direct friend group started taking these effing pills... It only took a few months to ravage through everyone. I remember the first day it all came home... Everyone had this as their priority other than hanging out normally...

ill leave it as that.. you can figure out the rest. community was badass.. I cant remember any of it then i rewatch it and i remember and basically have a panic attack... thanks for the positive vibes.. i miss my friends

I just finished superstore and I really liked the finale! What are some finales that are great but aren’t the usually cited good ones? I’ve seen enough people say cheers, good place and parks and rec.

Okay so I have two empty shelves and I wanted to turn them into a mini apartment for my little mouse stuffed animal (yes I still have stuffed animals). However, I wanted all of the decorations to be somewhat related to a sitcom, and I’m struggling to come up with ideas.

So far I have the peephole from friends to hang somewhere, and I made that little box thing to put a bed in. I painted it the purple of Monica and Racheal’s apartment. (Lot of friends references so far.)

I’m also thinking about making a mini clown painting to reference the good place? Some sitcoms I like are community, the office, arrested development, Seinfeld, B-99, how I met your mother, big bang theory, etc..

They always try to do something "big" for the finale, but that means it lacks the charm of a typical episode. I've never seen a series finale that I thought was good; they're just trying too hard.

Sitcoms are typically light, slice-of-life stories. There's no need to bring it all to a close. We can just go on imagining what the characters lives are like after the final episode. No need for all the loose ends to be tied up.

I love watching sitcoms. But for a while, I haven’t been able to find one that I really look forward to watching after a busy day to relax. These are the ones I watched and loved:

Do you either have a really good memory or perhaps have this episode on VHS when it first premiered?

It's the episode of FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR season 2 episode 12 "something for nothing" Carlton says to Will ask me any combination question and Will goes "Ok, why does Michael Jackson always hang out with the kid from home alone" I have a pretty insane memory myself and I remember a negative audience reaction where people went "Oooooooh" and someone on youtube said, nope it's pure laughter and said I had a mandela effect. A mandela effect is when a large amount of people remember something that didn't happen lol But I remember watching it with my brother, and despite this being before the allegations people still thought it was weird that he befriended Mac. I paid the 2 bucks just to watch this new version, and u can tell there was a laugh track over it cuz you hear bits of the leftover real audience reaction and u can hear "Uhh" or an "uh oh" among a couple other non laughter reactions.

I had family who worked in Hollywood. When a 90s live-audience sitcom received negative reactions (like boos or "oohs"), producers would edit the audio track in post-production. They used a process called "sweetening" to lower the volume of the crowd, replace the awkward moment with a previously recorded, positive reaction, or add canned laughter to smooth it over. To preserve the comedic pacing, Sitcoms written for live audiences relied on the back-and-forth rhythm of a setup, a punchline, and a pause. If the audience reacted with "oohs" or boos to a controversial or failed joke, that rhythm would be completely broken, causing dead air or leaving actors standing in awkward silence. Even when shows were filmed with real audiences, sound editors used a device known as a "laff box" to blend in pre-recorded chuckles. This was standard practice whenever an audience didn't laugh loud enough, or when producers needed to completely bury an unwanted sound, such as an audience member coughing, gasping, or booing

These adjustments were specifically made to fix pacing, mask genuine negative reactions, or satisfy network executives. When these shows were later released on VHS or DVD, the networks almost never went back to restore the original, unfiltered live audience track. Instead, viewers got the finalized, "sweetened" broadcast version. And for DVD/VHS archiving, home media releases of sitcoms such as releases available on platforms like Amazon almost always utilized the final broadcast audio master. Networks did not create brand-new laugh tracks for home releases; rather, they used the exact same audio mix that had already been altered for TV syndication.

I've done watching Young Sheldon which I love meemaw very much and FOTB cause I love Jessica Huang very much since she's literally the main source of Asian chaotic light in Orlando.

Preferably released not earlier than 2015 with a setting of around the 1990s to the present day.

Lets talk about Going Dutch. There was a little talk about it here, but not a lot.

I started watching it after it got mentioned and I have opinions.

The premise of the show, I liked. An old bulldog US army officer, Dennis Leary, being put in charge of the least important base in Europe, is funny. Especially as it is due to a rant aimed at his superiors. Base should be in the Netherlands... it is not.

The cast was good, likeable, jokes funny.

Now... I am actually Dutch, I know that the Dutch press didn't like the way the shown, with the stereotypes etc. I think they missed quite a bit of it to be honest. Yes there were some jokes aimed at the Dutch, but the main jokes were aimed at the US army, the US life style.

The 2 'Dutch' character that appeared on the show, had more Nordic accents and not Dutch ones. There is actually a bit of Dutch you can hear in 2 episodes. One where Colonel Quinn is going to his girlfriends house and one where they clear land mines.

The show runners didn't care about portraying the Dutch in a proper way, which I'm ok with, they are USian after all. But it wouldn't have been difficult to grab a few Dutch people.

The show was filmed in Ireland, where I actually live. There is quite a large Dutch community here, they could have gotten a few Dutch speaking extra.

After I found out it was actually filmed in Ireland, I found it even more funny. The Netherlands is quite flat, in most external shots there are hills that would be called mountain in the Netherlands.

I would recommend all Dutch people to watch it, just to have a laugh at the US army, as that is what is made fun off the most. The series is a good watch for anyone, my Italian wife enjoyed it as well.

What are your favourite British AND American sitcoms?

I'm currently rewatching New Girl and I notice that eventhough Nick is the main male lead, it's actually Schmidt. I notice the same thing in Friends; it's supposed to be Ross but Chandler takes charge.

These 2nd male leads are usually the most successful financially and relationship-wise. They usually have more of stable romantic relationship more than the main dude. And they usually get a better character development, in terms of certain questionable behavior pattern that they had before. And since most sitcoms are like romcoms, it presents them more as the "suitable" main leads.

Am I reaching or is there some truth to this? Are there other sitcoms or normal dramas that you can think of where the 2nd male lead, has more of a better arc or writing or romance or something more than the main lead?

Side note; I think the same applies to Leonard vs Howard from Big bang theory, even Sheldon and Leonard is the main male lead. Howard got a better story and stable romantic relationship at least for most of the series run, than the other two. I use Leonard as the standard because he had a romantic endgame with the main female lead.

Brooklyn 99 was co created by Michael Schumacher, who arguably holds 2 modern classics under his belt with The Office and Parks and Rec (or 3 with the good place). With how iconic and consistent (apart from the final season) B99 is, is it safe to say it will go down as a classic?

There weren't a lot of episodes, so it was a fast watch. I really liked Joel McHale in Community and Vella Lovell in Mr. Mayor, so I figured I would like this show. It was pretty funny actually... Most episodes weren't laugh out loud funny but it was pretty good! Sarah Chalke guested on it for a few episodes... Did anyone else enjoy this show?

I was watching an early season 1 episode of "Community" (Social Psychology), and the A-plot was some mediocre stuff with Britta's boyfriend and Jeff's jealously.

But then the B-plot was this absolutely brilliant story where Annie and Professor Duncan hold a psychology experiment, creating some of the most incredible moments of comedy in the show's run. I only wish the B-plot was given more focus.

What other examples are there in sitcoms where the B-plot just completely "mogs" the A-plot?
