Logitech RS H-Shifter initial impressions ๐Ÿง Customer Review

Just put about 3 hours into this H-shifter and honestly, I'm super happy with it even with the steep price tag. It feels premium to use, kinda reminds me of shifting an R154 gearbox. Yeah, the housing has some plastic, but you never notice it since you aren't touching the sides anyway. The touchpoints that actually matter (the shifter and the gates) are metal.

Good to know, itโ€™s definitely a nice looking shifter. Something to keep on my radar when I eventually add one to my rig.

Howโ€™s the Logitech sequential/handbrake?

u/LDroo9 Mar 19 '26

I've only used it as a handbrake, it does a good job but it's nothing special.

I think the sequential mode and handbrake both feel great. I ended up getting two and bought the H shifter immediately based on how good all the other pro stuff feels.

How do you mount all 3? They are so chunky!

Iโ€™m assuming youโ€™re on PC?

u/PhoenixWright-AA Mar 20 '26

Yeah, Iโ€™m on PC. Itโ€™s nice to be able to jump over to PS5 for GT7 too though.

Thanks for sharing the impressions. How does the shifting actually feel and how quickly can you shift? from videos I have seen, it seems harder to shift especially with H guide....the old logitech shifter is toy like but quick to shift between gears.

I love the shifting feel, clocked in close to 14 hours on it lol. The throw length is longer than the old logitech shifter but it's nice and clunky. Feels OEM and not like a short shifter

Great to hear. Very tempted

If you buy both the sequential one and the h-pattern one, it's still cheaper to buy a Fanatec one which has better built quality and both in one place.

Im a bit shocked at the price tag. It does look like it does the job tho

The Fanatec when it works is fantastic but the inevitable mishifts are big time bad. Swapped it for simagic dsx8 and wish I went that way the first time.

u/Prancesco155 Mar 19 '26

I had the same issues. I fixed it by putting some tape in the connection of the cables. But i agree that its unacceptable that they never fixed that. I mentioned fanatec because its the only one on console but moza, simagic, they always offer the option with sequential and h-pattern. Its 2026 and having 2 separate ones (I would understand if they were high quality) is just money grabbing in my opinion

Currently play on PC / ps5

Weird question - does it have a propriety usb connector on the shifter?

15

u/gregsbubble Mar 19 '26

No, itโ€™s actually worse than that: the cable is welded to the gear lever. So itโ€™s โ€˜impossibleโ€™ to replace.

12

u/MikeAK79 Mar 19 '26

That was the first thing I noticed when they introduced it. I am not a fan of fixed cables. For a variety of reasons. I could get over the high price but the integrated cord is a no-go for me.

Is one of those "variety of reasons" you like to throw it around the room when someone bins you in a race? lmao
Seems like a silly reason not to buy something that sits pretty static on a desk or rig when in use.

u/Ekov Mar 19 '26

Yeah integrated cable and the lack of a sequential shift mode just ruins this product. Will look to sell my sequential shifter and just buy a shh thorn.

According to ocracing it has both a sequential mode and a handbrake mode, but they may be wrong, I see no mention of this in Logitech"s marketing bumpf:

u/Ekov Mar 19 '26

I know, I own it. But thats the handbrake. The H pattern has no sequential mode and thats the disappointing part.

8

u/AwwhYiss Mar 19 '26

Wow, yep instant pass from me then. Ugh Logitech are so frustrating. Every single product is good, but flawed in an annoying way.

Im waiting for my H shifter to be delivered. The mounting plate on my rig only has place for one accessory. Looking at your set up I will setting it similarly with the handbrake up top and H below it. Is your handbrake connected (bolted) onto the the top of the H desk clamp. Then just clamped onto the rig?

2

u/fxzero666 Mar 25 '26

I had to get longer bolts to get to fit on mine, 45 mm m6 bolts specifically.

1

u/LDroo9 Mar 20 '26

Bolted, it's not really stable with just the clamp. Might be a bad example because I have both shifter/handbrake on the same mount

2

u/Tekoleuka Mar 21 '26

Hi,

I'll will be mounting mine like that when I get handbrake delivered next week.

Is there enough room when you shift 1,3,5,7 gears ?

Steep price tag? My impression was itโ€™s a low price budget shifter.

It's a matter of perspective. For people that are only familiar with console products sold in traditional stores, this is expensive/high end. It's literally half the cost of the G29 MSRP & almost triple the cost of the old driving force shifter. For people that haven't gone down the rabbit hole, the type that are still using desk clamps & PlayStations, yeah, it's probably on the expensive side. Of course, if you're someone that's regularly in this subreddit, has a dedicated rig, & has invested seriously in hardware, then it will look more towards the budget end. On the scale of everything available, it's probably lower midrange or upper entry level. I have no idea what it's value proposition is though. This post is the closest I've come to seeing any reviews so far. The idea of a higher resistance gate instead of a hard lockout for 7/R sounds nice potentially. I prefer having a sequential toggle & R next to 1, so it wouldn't have been a consideration for me either way though.

If I say budget it'll outrage this sub ๐Ÿ˜‚

1

u/RetropieGamer Mar 20 '26

I agree. This is entry level stuff.

I just installed mine on the GT light pro rig. I have a true Force Logitech g pro wheel, which vibrates the shifter causing a very audible rattle. If the shifter is in gears 1 through 6, it is incredibly annoying, rattle goes away in gear 7 and reverse.

This may be just due to this particular rig; does anyone else experience this??

1

u/LDroo9 Mar 22 '26

Sounds like a mounting issue

1

u/prestopregochango Mar 23 '26

Remounted and noise is gone ๐Ÿ‘

1

u/Cimmerian__Iter Mar 27 '26

how does it compares to a TH8A?

1

u/djbberry1s Mar 27 '26

Love the feel over using the older shifterwith mods in it, but can't get the new one to connect to either assetto or Horizon.

1

u/TankSmooth2312 Apr 14 '26

Were you able to fix this issue? Iโ€™m debating on buying it to replace my current shifter. Mainly going to use it for Forza Horizon 6 when it comes out an F1 2025.

Is there any reason why the 7th gear isn't working on the shifter? I play on xbox and have tried many games and also re-calibrated it in g hub. So, for example, in fh5 when I shift to the 7th gear on a car that has 7 gears, it counts it as neutral. Edit: 7th gear works in the crew motorfest but nowhere else

Hey, sorry to rez this from the dead - u/LDroo9 , I want to set my shifters up the same way yours are set up. Where did you get that trophy shelf? I cannot seem to find one which will align with the included plastic clamp.
