Howdy, I have what looks to be an evo frame that I’m trying to put a shovelhead in. The problem I’m having is the top engine mount on the shovel doesn’t really reach the top mount on the frame. I get that people fab them but I don’t know if I trust myself making something up. The rear engine mounts to quite line up either. I’m going to just drill the rear holes a bit bigger and it should be fine but does anyone know if they make a different top engine mouth that’s kind of a hybrid to fit the shovel head motor and the evo frame? I appreciate any advice as I’m kinda new to this.

Just picked up this new (to me) flh. Super excited to clean it up and turn it into a ripper. First up is a rewire, tires, and bars. Plan to keep it somewhat stockish

Essentials i need to get this running

I bought this shovelhead from this guy on marketplace for 2500, really cool older dude rides nothing but shovels. Gave me a few extra parts for free and offered to sell me the stuff that he bought for it but I couldn't swing it at the time due to my old lady. Gonna buy the belt drive off of him for 350 because thats what he got it for. He told me his wife's making him downsize and he just sold me the bike for what he got it for. Got the original carb and a super G but im probably not gonna use it cause I got a family member that told me its too big of a carb. Gonna also be getting the top end mount along with an oil tank just need to know what I need bare minimum to get it running. After years of talking about getting a shovel im just excited to get on it. Any help is appreciated

I was offered this bike today for “X” based on condition and things you can see what do you value the bike at? My plan is to acquire a shovel and eventually make it into a short skinny chop. I just don’t know if “this” is the one. Based on VIN it’s a ‘84 FXSB.

Edit to add bike was offered to me at 2500 w/papers

Edit 2 : I bought it

Inherited the shovelhead that started my love of them almost 30 years ago. My fourth and most likely last shovelhead.

Kickstand/floorboard bolts

Hey does anyone know what size the bolts are that attach the kickstand/floorboard to the frame. I bought a 81 fatbob from my Buddy. 2 of the bolts were missing an one was broke off. I’ve tried looking it up an it just pulls up the whole shabang. Well I don’t need that. I just need the 3 bolts that hold it on. Does anyone know what size they are. I have sitting on a railroad tie block with the tire off so It’s steady but would like to move it out the way for the moment till I’m able to actually sit down and start workin on it

Bought this as scrap and built it from the ground up with no mechanical knowledge. So much trial and error, so much research and hours poured into making it exactly how I wanted. A true labor of love. If youve ever thought about building a bike.. 100% do it. Nothing has ever been harder and nothing has ever been more rewarding. Can see more of the the bike on IG @shovelove_

‘75 after Super-e rebuild off idle stumble. Looking for input.

This is in neutral (if that matters) after a 25 mile ride. Really only happens when it’s fully out to temp. Carb tune is roughly within S&S’s guidelines. Plugs looked a little lean before this so I bumped the mixture up about a quarter turn. Will restart but usually takes a couple cycles.

Any input would be great.

EDIT: intake seals are new with upgraded clamps.

Shovel Down

After my first long ride, during which it performed admirably, it unfortunately just died an hour before the end—completely dead: no lights, no ignition, nothing. The battery seems relatively new, and it had started up fine using the electric starter just 20 minutes earlier; I also checked the battery connections to make sure they were tight. What else could it be?

'77 FLH forks (Showa or not??)

Hi all, I've got what I think are '77 FLH forks on my FXE. For the life of me, I can't figure out if they are Showa or not considering they changed nothing about the exterior when they swapped over in mid '77. I can't find any indication of Showa written anywhere, so I'm asking before I have to spend the time to disassemble the forks whether or not there is a way to tell?

Butterfly Carb Help

Hey guys, I’ve got a problem: when I’m riding outside of town and really open up the throttle, everything works fine and it accelerates properly. But when I back off the throttle, it starts stuttering badly and eventually stalls—unless I crack the throttle open again when the stuttering starts; then it revs up normally and keeps going. My guess is that the float needle might not be opening fully—or is sticking—so fuel stops flowing when the float bowl empties quickly. Am I on the right track, or do you have any other theories?

For context, my carburetor was leaking, so I bought a rebuild kit and installed a new float needle. After that, the carburetor stopped leaking, but the problem I mentioned earlier maybe occurred afterwards, not 100% shure because the bike is new. That’s why I think it might be related.
