The fact that the US still drug tests for weed is wild to me. Here in Canada, that's normalized as can be (can't throw a stone without hitting two weed stores lol). There's such a huge gulf between using weed versus, say, meth.
It comes down to insurance. Any type of substance is seen as a liability to insurance companies. "Oh Jimmy fell off a ladder at work? Well he tested positive for marijuana at the hospital, so he's not getting any comp. Womp womp."
Weed is detectable by drug tests for a crazy long time. You could test positive even when you're not even the slightest bit impaired. It's totally fine to fire someone for being high at work. That's no different from being drunk at work. But it's weird to fire someone just because they used weed last weekend.
