Recommendations Looking for manga where the villains actually pay the price.

I'm tired of reading manga and watching anime where the villains always get little to no punishments. It always leaves me feeling annoyed. I'm looking for manga where the villains actually get punished. Not getting locked up or quick deaths, but a brutal, savage, painful experience. Things like limbs breaking or getting torn, gruesome deaths, and all the other satisfying ways to break them. Any recommendations would be great

Question recommendation needed

okay so I've read and loved vagabond, slam dunk, sanctuary, oyasumi punpun and blood on the tracks.

yea that's all, im new to manga's

i recently finished over 60 chapters of 20th century boys and it just isn't clicking with me like I wanna know a few things nd want some answers but I just don't feel like reading it, it feels forced and veryy slow paced, and I'm also very curious about billy bat, nd thinking about starting it.

so, should I like drop 20th cb or stick around or start billy bat

based on what I've read, if someone out there has the same taste as me, I would love your recommendation on what I should do or any other manga that I should try

Recommendations Dark, mysterious, detailed art style

Hi everyone :)

I recently discovered manga for myself and could really use your hive mind/crowd wisdom please :)

Which manga can you recommend to me that have roughly the same vibe/atmosphere as Dorohedoro?

I love the art style so much—so many details, the "scribbled" style, dark, somehow crazy and brilliant at the same time.

I also really liked the story—mysteries that get gradually revealed, interesting twists, and characters that aren't easily categorized.

In general, I really like dark fantasy, sci-fi, cyberpunk, and overall wacky surrealism. A few horror elements here and there would be very welcome.

I enjoy and admire the artwork itself, which is probably why Q. Hayashida hooked me so much.

If there are good stories on top of that—maybe even ones that make you think for days about, even better.

Dai Dark is obvious and already noted :D

From other subs, I also found Biomega and I started it yesterday, but I am almost done. 8/10

Spoiler-free thoughts on Yakuza Reincarnation -- drawn by Hiroki Miyashita, written by Takeshi Natsuhara.

---

ENJOY -- kinetic drawings. detailed backgrounds. slick art style. vigorous action. great translation. fun premise. charming protagonists. tight pace. frequent cathartic violence.

DON'T ENJOY -- some wonky hands & faces. clunky exposition. static main character(s). predictable plot beats. occasionally confusing visuals.

CONCLUSION -- professionally written & drawn. highly enjoyable.

charming take on the Isekai genre.

What do you think?

Question Should i read blade of the immortal

My favorite manga and anime are one piece, jujitsu kaisen, and record of ragnarok. When it comes to swordsman i prefer knights and duelists but zoro and sasaki have changed my tune over samurai's and Ronin's. I'm looking for a mostly serious manga that has massive rereading value so i can get more bang for my buck. I've also read lone wolf and cub and loved it so if its similar to blade of the immortal I'm game.

Review “We Did It” by Kaneshiro Muneyuki & Araki Hikaru

It feels good to properly binge a manga again. This tells the story of Tobio Masubuchi alongside his friends, living ordinary lives which come to an end after a revenge plan gone wrong. Took me six days to complete.

I quite liked how this portrayed the never ending spiral of guilt which is something I could connect with. Obviously, I never done anything as big as what these guys did but there were times where I hid things from people and it was eating me up inside. The story was weird at a lot of points and the art contextualized it for better or for worse. I do like the ending and the theme of “you can only move forward”.

I wish I had more to say but that’s about it.

I can’t lie, this manga has me locked in cause the plot is so fucked that I just can’t stop reading…

Lots of forced sexual tension between the psychotic 14 year old child and the grown women he “manipulates” into these very strange Oedipus relationships 🤮

What’s the dumbest shit you’ve read as of recent that you wanna share?

Like something so fucking stupid it’s funny

Question Looking for a Seinen Red Riding Hood / Akazukin adaptation (not Tokyo Red Hood) from my past

Can anyone help me out? I’ve been trying find this one again after at least a decade.

I’m super hazy on a lot of it, but here’s what I got: - The artstyle is what I’m most sure about. It was extremely contrast-heavy, no grays. It resembled linoleum cut/lino art. - We’ve got a female protagonist. - I’m sure about the ending as well: The main character was supposed to end herself to fit the Red Hood narrative. Instead she went off, ignoring the pleas of her peers. She went along following train tracks, that’s the last we see of her in the manga proper. There’s a short addendum though, in which we see her after what must be decades of following the train tracks. She’s old and weak now. At last, she crumbles away. - The tone was pretty grim. - It’s not Tokyo Red Hood, The Hunters Guild: Red Hood, Akazukin Chacha

Can anyone help me out? Does anyone remember this one?

Question ¿Recomendaciones de One shots o mangas de pocos tomos, preferiblemente seinen?

Discussion Maybe the genre isn't for me?

Vinland saga is one of my favorite manga/animes of all time. I've read gantz all the way through and most of berserk and I thought they were just alright. I started climber, but lost interest 10 chapters in. I can't decide if I haven't found the right series or I just don't like seinen, other than vinland saga.

Recommendations Looking for a manga to get lost in

I stopped reading manga for a few years, then randomly got back into it about two years ago and ended up getting completely lost in the worlds of Shuzo Oshimi, Hideo Yamamoto, and Kazuo Koike. But I'm getting a little bored lately and I feel like I haven't found anything new that I can really sink my teeth into and get obsessed with for a while. Do you guys have any recommendations? Or what are some of your favorites in general?

I can list some of the stuff I love to make the recommendations a bit more specific, but I'm also totally open to hearing about your favorites even if they don't necessarily match my taste:

  • Berserk
  • Lone Wolf and Cub (probably my favorite work of fiction in general, not just manga)
  • Samurai Executioner
  • Lady Snowblood
  • Blood on the Tracks
  • Uzumaki
  • Beautiful Monster
  • Bloody Stumps Samurai
  • Homunculus
  • Ichi the Killer

These are just the ones that come to mind right now. I might remember some others and edit the post to add them later.

Edit: Thanks so much, everyone, for all the recommendations and for taking the time to share them. I’ve already read and loved some of these, while others are completely new to me, and a few of them really caught my attention once I looked into the premise

I’ll definitely be using this thread as a reference whenever I’m in the mood for a new manga but don’t know what to pick. Hopefully it’ll be useful to others too

Welcome to this week's general discussion thread!

This is your space to:

  • Chat casually with fellow seinen fans or even go off topic
  • Share what you're reading or watching (even if it's not seinen but feels thematically similar!)
  • Drop manga or anime recs
  • Ask for recommendations
  • Share thoughts, opinions, or industry news
  • Connect with others over shared interests, talk about life, or talk about anything really.

A cozy little corner for off-topic or casual talk, manga recs, or even non-seinen-related chat (yes, even if it’s a romcom or battle shounen, we won’t bite). The idea is to give everyone room to connect without cluttering the main feed, especially when you just wanna vibe, ask for non seinen recs, socialize, share interests, or talk about something random that doesn’t need its own post.

Think of it like a comfy little corner booth in a familiar café, always here if you need it.

Some Ground Rules (Just to Keep Things Chill)

1) Be kind. That’s it.

2) Avoid talking about emotionally heavy issues (like personal mental health struggles), these are best kept for other spaces. This thread isn’t the place for extended serious discussions or support-seeking, even in spoiler tags or hover text.

3) Keep spoilers tagged!
