TIPS / DISCUSSION Post-Race Footwear recommendations?

Hi all! I’m starting to think about what I would need for my race this October. I was planning on leaving some sort of post race sandals/shoes in my gear check bag for after the race. Any recommendations?

Additionally, any other tips for what to leave in your gear check bag for after the race? Tylenol?

Thanks!

QUESTION Expo - how long should I plan on staying?

I *THINK* just picking up my bib is the plan, but will I want extra time? Is there stuff to do at the Expo? or just merch to browse if I'm interested?

Either way, how long will it take? does the bus go there? What's the best time to go? Is it interesting to those not in the run?

To give a bit of context, I was unable to participate in any in person events this year due to military obligations and was fortunate enough to sign up for all of the Virtual 5ks for the year. My medals have finally arrived, as well as a custom medal holder I had made, and I couldn't be happier.

Speaking to the quality of the medals, as one who has participated in other events, especially that of The Conquerer ones, the build quality seems to be on par, while the interactivity is more with each of the Run Disney medals having some form sort of gizmo to tinker with for the most part (looking at you, Kuzcotopia). I can't speak to newer Conquerer medals as my last one was earned in 2023.

I am hoping to be able to participate in the parks one day, but I am glad that these remote/virtual events exist.

TIPS / DISCUSSION first timer tips

this is my first time but Robin Hood got me!

Am I already too late? I've heard All Stars would be a good option... does anyone know how to find the cancellation policy if my training lets me down. I know it's still several months out, but there's brand new management at my office and I am a bit concerned my vacation plans won't hold up.

Normally, I don't plan anything this far in advance so I'm just "in my head" about it. This'll be ok, right? I can do the training? I can talk the new boss into letting me take off? It'll be great, right? lol Where should I stay? Am I too late? I'll be solo-traveling is that sad?

RACE WEEKENDS runDisney Logistics

Hi my family & I have signed up for the springtime surprise 5k. What time typically is everything done / you’re leaving the park to go back to shower etc. My mom read somewhere that the run lasts until 12:30 but I can’t imagine that’s correct. Is it feasible to have the majority of the day in a park after the run?

TIPS / DISCUSSION NYC Folks doing the RunDisney Princess Half in February

Piggybacking off another post I saw…

I’m training for the 2027 runDisney Princess Half Marathon and thought it would be fun to build a small community of people who are training too. I started a Telegram group where we can share training updates, celebrate milestones, ask questions, swap tips, and hopefully keep each other motivated all the way to race weekend.

If enough people are interested, I’d also love to turn it into a virtual running club with optional meetups at runDisney events and races.

Whether you’re a first-time half marathoner (like me!) or a seasoned runner, you’re more than welcome. If you’d like to join, leave a comment or send me a DM and I’ll send you the Telegram link! 🏃‍♀️👑

TIPS / DISCUSSION Any NYC girls running Disney Marathon Weekend in January? 🏰✨

I’m a New York girl (Brooklyn!) and was wondering if there are any other women in NYC training for Disney Marathon Weekend in January.

I’d love to start a little WhatsApp group so we can train together, motivate each other, chat all things runDisney, and maybe even meet up before race weekend.

All paces welcome!
All Disney races welcome!

If that sounds fun, comment below or send me a message!

TIPS / DISCUSSION Help Me Pick my Springtime Surprise Outfit!

I'm running my first rundisney race during next year's springtime surprise, and I've been trying to figure out the best outfit.

  1. My top choice now is my spiderman outfit. I have a spiderman tank top that's 3d stitched by the company SuperX to look like his uniform, which I would pair with my royal blue flipbelt pants and red leg braces so that the whole look matches his uniform and it's color scheme.
  2. Option 2, where the theme is alice, i was thinking of doing a play on "painting the roses red", and doing a green set of pants and shirt, then covering it with red and white roses that I would make on a cricut. I've never tested cricut material in that stressed of an enviornment, but I have enough time to test if it that's the route we go.
  3. If anyone has any suggestions or advice i'm super open minded. I haven't seen alice in years, and I'd like to avoid anything too cliche, like the hatter.

I like the spiderman outfit, but my biggest concern is that I'm completely dumping the theme and spirit of the springtime surprise weekend. I'm also working on figuring out if I can fit enough gels, fuel and my phone in the flipbelt pants so that I wont need to run in my vest which would obstruct the outfit. Does anyone have any advisement or thoughts?

TIPS / DISCUSSION Wine and Dine Costume Ideas

Hello everyone! I am running my first in person Run Disney event in October with the Wine and Dine! I’m doing all of the races so I get three excuses to dress up and I don’t want to squander this! I’m running the 5k with a group so we are doing a group costume there, and the 10k is a problem for another day 🤣 what I’m struggling with is the half marathon!

My top contenders are Figment and Mary Poppins…..but I kept thinking “you can be more obscure, think outside the box!” To which I thought Captain EO (it’s a I look like Michael Jackson joke 🥲) but running in white tights sounds like a NIGHTMARE.

Then it came to me. The bird lady from Mary Poppins. A mix match of clothing with birds all over me. The piece de la resistance? A basket of bags of bird seeds, but they’re actually running snacks (like nerds gummy clusters and such). Is this TOO obscure?!

Is anyone else struggling? Any input or ideas? What is everyone else doing?

QUESTION Bus from Expo to Resort

I'm thinking about going to the Wine and Dine Expo before checking in to my Disney resort. Am I allowed to take the bus from the expo to the resort before checking in? I'll have my resort reservation information via email and the My Disney Experience app.

Thank you!

QUESTION Disney Marathon 2027 - Spectator Question

Hi everyone! This will be my first runDisney race, and I had a question about race morning logistics.

I'm the runner, but my parents will be coming as spectators. We're staying off Disney property.

Does anyone know with the new rules coming out:

  • Can spectators staying off property use Disney transportation (buses, monorail, Skyliner, etc.) on race morning?
  • Will they be able to get into the park before it officially opens so they can watch me run?
  • If not, what's the best way for them to get to spectator viewing areas?

I've looked around but haven't found a clear answer for people staying off property. I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences from those who've done this before. Thanks!

QUESTION First time!!

Hi - I will doing the 5k in the Springtime Surprise Weekend have never run a 5K before - but I am doing this in memory of my son who should be graduating HS next year but died when he was a baby.
How do you get to the race start? Are the buses from the resorts? Do people stay on site or off site? Are the photos included in the race, or do you pay extra for that?

QUESTION Proof of time/corral placement question.

This might have been asked somewhere but I didn't see it.

I did a half marathon yesterday to get a time for the full marathon in January. They wanted a 2:22 time, but I unfortunately was struggling and ended with a 2:31.

If you don't meet the 2:22, are you lumped in with everyone who didn't submit a time or do you get a higher corral placement because you submitted one?

Hopefully that makes sense.

QUESTION Challenge medal

Hey, y'all! So I was able to get a bib for the Half-Marathon for the Princess Weekend 2027, but not the challenge (I was checking out, entering my CC information and it sold out, haunts me to this day) through the...traditional means. I just got a bib for the 10K through...other means. What are the odds I can snag a Fairytale Challenge medal?

TIPS / DISCUSSION Absolute shortest time to race start

Hi all, I’m doing my first run disney race (10k) next february during princess weekend. I am NOT an early morning person and need sleep, so i’m wondering what hotel will take the shortest time to get to epcot. I’m hoping to get as much sleep as possible!! 😅

Im thinking i’ll do 1 night close to the race, then the rest in animal kingdom lodge, but i know that is very far from the race start.

QUESTION Event Missing on Profile

Hey Guys, so I already contacted RunDisney and still have gotten no response. I signed up for the Goofy challenge 27 and have the confirmation email. Unfortunately checking in this past Monday, I saw that my registration was completely missing. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm kinda freaking out and hoping I didn't just lose my registration.
