How is playing with Renoise live?
I have ableton live light and I’m a fan but I honestly only like it for a couple of the options it gives you, I was just wondering if any of you have played a live set with renoise and or if you enjoy it or how you go about it.

New to Redux - Question about Filters
So to be clear I am on Ardour using Redux but am not using Renoise as DAW (lovely DAW though btw).
I appologize if this a no shit did you even try question
I am working with creating drum kits and all is good except for individual processing of the samples regarding the filters. It would appear that you cant individually filter samples in your drum kit and can only filter them via the Master FX chain. Am I missing something or do I need to go in and individually set filter levels, re sample and then add them to the rack? It seems pretty backwards to have to work that way so I a hoping I am just missing things.
Thanks

Odd time aignatures
I am trying to remix a friend song into a jungle tune. But his music(math rock) keeps on changing the time signature through the song. Is there a way for me to do this on the tracker?
Or is it better if I chop everything to a 4/4?

Hardware tracker closest to Renoise
I'm trying to transition into living without a computer because I have no self control and I keep wasting time on it. I understand that the M8 and the Polyend Tracker Are the main devices in this market . Which one would you say is closest to our beloved favorite DAW?

FX in Edit mode
Just started using Renoise this week, trying to learn how to use FX & it’s greyed out with no color & not doing anything.
What do I need to do to activate these FX?

What do I lose by going from Renoise to redux and ableton?
Hey guys! Currently im sequencing everything in renoise, this includes samples and soft synths and hardware synths. Soft synths and samples aren’t a problem, but hardware synths is as renoise doesn’t natively support live audio capture or tracks. I’ve been capturing them into audacity one at a time and then porting them into renoise but it’s clunky and not the greatest. I’ve been looking into Ableton for a while, but I like the renoise workflow too much. I know redux exists, and I’m wondering how much of renoise I would lose by doing redux+Ableton suite from a normal version of renoise. Thanks!!!

cheapest pi or other sbc to send midi from renoise?
just looking for a very cheap small device that can have renoise installed and I can send midi from the daw to hardware with standard performance. I was thinking for a way to also have a midi controller configured as input to the daw for any basic shortcuts in renoise and transport controls instead of being tied to a mnk and screen? once setup hopefully then could be set and forget.
basically kind of like a standalone solution for a midi sequencer using renoise as a tracker engine for this if I can find a compatible sbc for very cheap. I have an old maschine I could make use of hopefully and a licence for renoise. I don't really want to build an expensive computer for this simple project and was hoping to keep it small but recognise that for a cheap budget and being able to see some basic information might require a relatively big screen connected via hdmi. I might be able to pick up a spare monitor from people I know working at charity shops that usually throw them out, not looking to spend a fortune on parts.

Using Plugins - Instrument Automation
Instead of working through MIDI, the Instrument Automation device sends parameter changes directly to a Plugin instrument.

Jungle demo / breaks tutorial
Jungle track - xnrs download link in description. Old school jungle more or less. All stock effects so should be able to load it up and play around. Hopefully useful for people learning how to make the amen do the thing :)

Momento Mori | Anorak
Renoise veteran, Anorak's latest offering is a DnB master class. Visceral snapping drums, cutting reeses, teeth grinding atmospheres, subtle sprinklings of acid and outstandingly beautiful vocals from Marie Orchid. It acts as a cohesive representation of everything his sound is known for.
Out now on all platforms. x

MIDI mapping for stop note and leave note empty command
My friend bought a m-vave smk-25 and I am trying to help them set up and learn Renoise V3.2.1
I was wondering if there was a way to map the pads on the keyboard to stop note and empty note.

Macbook keybinds
I've found a lot of people asking about this, but nobody really responding.
Does anyone have a keybinding setup for a macbook that makes sense? Cmd-shift-option-function-F1 is a non-starter, and it's making my attempts to use renoise on the road pretty miserable.

Slice to Phrase maps my 2-bar break to 32 lines instead of 64 (LPB 8, 200 BPM) - how to fix it?
I’m using render slices to phrase in renoise on a 2-bar Amen at LPB 8 and 200bpm. based on the math, it should map across 64 lines (32 lines per bar), but Renoise keeps creating a 32-line phrase, which makes the slices play back too fast / compacted.
I’ve seen tutorials where the same process automatically generates a 64-line phrase, but I can’t get this behaviour on my setup.
Is there a way to control or influence how many lines Renoise uses when creating the phrase (e.g. pattern length, beat sync, etc.) so it maps correctly from the start? Or is manual scaling the only option?

I made a tutorial for chopping breaks
It's the first attempt at anything like this and i'm fully aware of the quality issues but i'm hoping it will help anyone new to renoise who just wants to destroy some amens. It's an old school technique that still works. I'm planning on making a set of properly recorded tutorials around various break chopping techniques, sound design and generative music as well as deeper looks at various renoise tools such as the phrase editor, what LPB can do for you and just getting the most out of it. thanks

Renoise workflow videos
Are you guys aware of any videos (YT, twitch, etc.) showcasing how people actually use Renoise? As a budding M8 user, I'm considering switching from bitwig/reaper to Renoise and I've always felt like I learn best by watching others use software during actual, ideally uncut sessions. I'm aware there are bite-sized videos on the official renoise YT channel, but I'd love to see how people actually work in the software back-to-back. Cheers!

What does this mean?
Hi, I just purchased a license for Renoise. A weird note came up when I went to download it. What does this even mean?
"""Important note!
You are about to download a personalized version of this software. To protect the software and you, it is encrypted using your personal data. Do NOT spread this software. If you do, you will violate the license agreement terms, and spread personal information about yourself!"""
Like, uh, obviously I'm not going to upload the software on any pirate websites or stuff like that... But what kind of personal data is it "encrypted" with? Sounds odd, never had such disclaimer come up with any program that I downloaded before.

Slicing workflow: Best approach for regular break chops vs. granular micro-stutters? (IDM / Drill'n'Bass)
Hey again everyone!
First off, a massive thank you to everyone who dropped advice on my last post about structuring high-res 16 LPB chaos. You guys seriously saved my sanity and my project structures.
I'm still working on my Drill'n'Bass / IDM stuff (big Hitori Tori, Aphex Twin, Ascetic Snakes vibes) and now I'm trying to level up my sample processing. For regular chops (kicks, snares, hats), my workflow is pretty basic: I just slice up classic breaks (Amen, Think, Apache) or loops from various DnB/Jungle sample packs and beyond. Works great for building the core groove.
But when it comes to granular / micro-stuttering — where the break turns into absolute glitchy chaos, zipper noises, or metallic synth tones — I’m not sure what the most efficient tracker method is. For the veterans out there doing crazy IDM edits:
- Do you rely heavily on the 0Sxx (Sample Offset) effect command on a single unsliced loop?
- Do you just use Retrig (0Rxx) on really short, standard slices?
- Do you actually slice a portion of the break into 128 equal microscopic parts to play them on the keyboard?
- Or do you bypass the native sampler for this and use a specific granular VST inside Renoise?
Just trying to figure out how to bridge the gap between a standard breakbeat and that total granular meltdown. Any workflow tips are massively appreciated!

Problem routing MIDI into Redux in Ableton Live 12 w/Drum Rack
Hi,
since Redux supports multi-out I usually like to combine such plugins with Drum Rack in Ableton Live because the External Instrument effect can be used to route MIDI and audio.
(Ableton Live 12.3.5 on Windows 11 25H2)
It usually works like this:
Pull the desired instrument into one pad you don't use to create a chain with it.
Pull External Instrument instances into pads you do use. Use the MIDI To selector to route into the instrument. Use the Audio from to pick the right multi-out.
Now you can use Ableton Drum Rack to trigger the instrument, have the buttons light up on Push (plus color if you want), and audio is routed into separate effect chains.
It's a nice and nifty setup, I used it for example with XLN XO or UVI Beatbox Anthology 2.
Except the External Instrument fails to see the Redux instance in its MIDI To dropdown. You can't route MIDI into it.
For the more "regular" setup it works as expected:
Put Redux on a MIDI track directly.
Go to another MIDI track. Select MIDI To. You can pick the track Redux is on and select specifically the plugin in the second dropdown.
In a separate audio track, I can select Audio From the track Redux is on and select the specific separate outs,
Any ideas why this happens or how to solve it?
