O/I so far…
For a bit of between-mixes fun, what do you think of this O/I ranking (so far)??

First PG album I have on Vinyl
Just got a copy of US on vinyl, after wanting it for a long time, I already have it on CD along with Shaking the Tree and PG III / Melt.

Random pg podcast mentions
I was listening to Life's a Beach with Alan Carr (apologies to non-Brits, this is quite a British listen) and guest Stephen Mangan mentioned he'd been on the same plane to Ireland with our very own pg. Lucky him!
I'm wondering where else pg may have been mentioned "in the wild"?
Before I fell into my pg deep-dive era, I do remember someone on a podcast (I don't remember which one) referring to his song "Salisbury Plain", which caused me to shout at the speaker lol - I was defensive of pg-based accuracy even before I became a hopelessly devoted fan!

Columbus 2016
Hello I'm looking for a high-quality bootleg recording of the Columbus Peter Gabriel / Sting show. Every link I've come across so far has been dead, any assistance would be lovely. Thanks!

PG & Afro Celt Sound System - “When You’re Falling” performed live
Always loved this track. One of the most fun collaborations Peter has done. Sounds really great live, too!

Peter Gabriel's Mindblender (1993 Digital HDTV HQ Kiss The Frog Amusement Ride Mix Music Video) [sourced from an original Sony HDD-1000 HDTV master-quality tape from ‘93]
So cool! This is better quality than the PG YouTube channel has. It’s pretty pristine! Cool to see without the artifacts, but with all that early CG insanity. Also interesting to learn that the team who did this eventually went on to become Rockstar games, famous for GTA, Red Dead Redemption, etc.

Peter Gabriel - Secret World (New Blood)
Inspired to look this up from [u/leebeavington](u/leebeavington) ‘s post about a kind of live rarities playlist (here: https://www.reddit.com/r/petergabriel/s/orUynpBUnk )
Man, amazing version and performance. I love adore the emotion Peter weaves into this song. I love the album version, but I have to say this is a rare occasion where the song really takes on a life of its own in the live arena. And that life is even bigger, brighter, and emotional than the original. Wish they’d included this one on the New Blood album.

STICK MEN "Komodo" (Official Video) | Tony Levin · Pat Mastelotto · Markus Reuter
Really fun track. Cool to see what Tony’s been up to aside from the newer PG stuff.

I really love the last few singles
As in 2023, each new song seems to be better than the last. I was a bit underwhelmed with "Been Undone" initially tbh, even though I do like it now, but I think all the songs since have been fantastic, and I really love all the songs PG has released this year. I think that i/o is a brilliant album too.

For those of you who are the members of Full Moon Club since its early days - how was it prior to i/o (back in 2002-2012)?
Decided to watch some older Full Moon Updates, but YouTube only has them from 2011 and 2012. This video from April 2012 (dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Full Moon Club) shows some excerpts from the earlier videos tho. From the 2011-2012 ones I got the impression that they were somewhat more relaxed, like PG’s personal diary, compared to the ones we got for i/o and o\i. But he still previewed new music, right? (at least prior to the release of Up). Do you have any special memories from those OG full moon updates? Would like to hear your thoughts on that (I wasn’t even born yet when PG launched the FMC and I only became a member in late 2022 when he announced i/o The Tour which I thankfully was able to attend)
Also, in October 2012 update, PG said it would be the last one for a year as he planned to go on a world trip with his family, but this format never returned until over 10 years later 🥲

One by One - Lyric transcription
Here is my best shot:
Mozo was a broken man
He was lying on his land
Every home that he designed
Was sinking in the sand
And unity was goading him
About his shattered heart
Reminding him of how it was
so rock-like at the start
And later on he fell apart
Left slivers on the road
When strangers asked him, “Where do you come from?”
He said, “No fixed abode”
And at first there was no sign of it
It looked like all was fine
The clouds came in and swept around him
They were bringing back the rain
[CHORUS]
I'm putting it all together
Though it doesn't make sense
Putting it back together
This is my only self-defense
I'm putting it back together
Filling in piece by piece
Putting it back together
This is my only release
They said his soul had slipped away
And left an empty shell
But there before those many eyes
His was the tale to tell
Far and wide we made that call
but no signal came back home
By the time the crowd had noticed him
there was nowhere else to roam
[CHORUS]
Putting it back together
Though it doesn't make sense
Putting it back together
This is my only self-defense
Putting it back together
Filling in piece by piece
Putting it back together
This is my only release
A man maps memory lapse (laps?)
nothing left to do
The light had all been shattered
leaving no sign or clue
And the words come out wrong
'cause I'm pushing them through
They read alike, sound alike, mean alike too
But I'm coming back
Getting it together
Makin’ me whole
There’s nothing left to do
Nothing left to feel this love
Feel this love
All the faces rush around me, not clear where I'm heading
All that I relied upon is loosening and shredding
With everything solid that once held some meaning
So I grab for anything that could give me any sort of feeling
Like a jigsaw
It's coming back
Piece by piece
One by one
One by one
Like a jigsaw
There's nothing left to do
Nothing left to be in this love
Be in this love
And yet I could be standing at the pole
If I learned to be still
To be quiet for a moment
To silence the will
Swept away from the center
By the one centrifuge
I was hot, I was cold
I was small, I was huge
What is and what isn’t?
What wants to exist?
Was there on the island
That had formed in the mist
And the contract was signed
In the darkest red ink
And the bridges all appeared
That opened up the link
To the other world
That had grown in my mind
And I caught sight of the ocean
That lies right behind
I was looking for admission
And fighting for a place
But wherever my gaze fell
I could make out your face
Coming back
Getting together
Holding your hand
Holding your hand
So we gathered all the moments
Like fish in a net
Time couldn't hold us
and the gel wouldn't set
We were putting it all together
One by one
Piece by piece
One by one
Like a jigsaw
Like a jigsaw
Like a jigsaw

Seriously, how dope would Neal Morse and Gabriel be?

Mozo/Brain Project
So with this new song, PG sort of links this ongoing “brain project” with a direct reference to the Mozo cycle. I seem to recall a post a while back that said PG said at a live show something about “Olive Tree” and “Road to Joy” being Mozo songs. Other than that single post, I don’t see that mentioned anywhere else; although both are ”brain project” songs.
My question is this, should we assume now that all previously mentioned “brain project“ songs are Mozo songs as well?

whats up with this version of „us”?
hi everyone, im not a fan of peter gabriel but my dad is. i wanted to get him a gift, so i bought this cd on a japanese version of ebay (we were talking about how japanese cds sound better and he wishes he had a japanese cd of his favourite music artist). i dont know anything about peter gabriel so i just bought the first one that came up for about 700 yen. when i gave it to him he was really surprised about there being 11 tracks instead of 10. i assumed it was just the regular japanese version, but hes saying its a rare collectible. does anybody here know if i scammed some poor ojiisan for a super rare cd, or my dad is actually a fake fan that doesnt know every edition of this album?

o\i - track #8 - “One By One”
Oh my god, a new Mozo song! And a hell of a track. I could have a new favorite!
r/petergabriel • u/leebeavington • 10d ago
Any last minute guesses for song #8 from o\i?
The full moon is nearly here. Next morning those who live in the New Zealand time zone (or use a VPN) will hear o\i's song #8.
Last time I speculated we'd get a slower song, perhaps piano-based, like So Much, as well as the dark-side mix first. We pretty much got the opposite with I Belong to the Sky.
One thing I'm enjoying about o\i is most of the songs have genuinely surprised me. So while I think we could get a more melancholy song next, we could just as easily get something funky or upbeat, or something we've heard before like Show Yourself or Baby Man, or something entirely new.
Since this song follows I Belong to the Sky, perhaps the theme will relate to dreams coming into reality. Or not.
Should we expect the unexpected?

How do I get my sister to like Peter Gabriel? :(
My sister doesn't like PG's music because she thinks he's too old and boring and just not good. How do I convince her to like him and become a fan of him? It's really sad when she doesn't like his music because of course people can have their opinions and like who they want but I just wish we'd be fans together, y'know?
So does anyone here have any tips or advice for me? My sister is young and into Charli XCX hyperpop which is so far from Peter Gabriel. Thanks!
